Anyone besides me hate "The Sopranos"?
I've tried to be a good girlfriend and get into them with the significant other. I've seen every single episode made so far.
After this last episode, fuggetaboutit!

I hate all the characters (some more than others, though). They are either murderous thugs, hypocritical enablers, or pathetic losers, or some combination thereof. Blech!

I realized that after watching an episode that it puts me in a bad mood. And then I often have nightmares that night.

I have enough problems in my life. I don't need more from a stupid "male soap opera."

Ok, I'm donning my kevlar undies....flame away!

1. Me, me, me.
We don't get HBO but we rented Six Feet Under and got totally hooked. We decided we ought to give The Sopranos a try. Just couldn't stand it. Bored me to tears.

2. liked it through 2000
but now think it has outlived its usefulness. HBO needs to get somthing else in the works, and soon.

My suspicion that this is the last season of Sopranos was confirmed by the attempt to revive the Tony and Dr. Melfi storyline in the first episode on 3/7. Fugetaboudit!

I stopped watching it. It's not what it used to be...give me Six Feet Under anyday of the week?!

4. There's going to be one more season
after this one. There was a long contract negotiation with James Gandolfini regarding this, but they got it worked out ok.

3. That's fine
If we all liked the same stuff, it'd be a boring world. I'm sure there's stuff you like that I'd find boring or repulsive or otherwise unpleasant.

That's why we have choice in the world. Kudos to you for being tolerant enough to at least try to enjoy it for his sake. But you don't have to continue.

For instance, I'm a big basketball fan, but Haele isn't. She'll try to watch the games, but if she gets bored and starts reading a book or goes online, I don't get bent out of shape, it's not her thing. Alternatively, I would go stark raving mad if she tried to make me sit through Pride and Prejudice when she and my daughter watch it.

The only thing that upsets me about disliking other people's favourites, especially on DU, is when folks are compelled, for some reason, to come into a thread where fans are discussing a show to declare that anyone who likes it is a conservative shill, or to declare that they don't see how anyone who's a good liberal could possibly like that show, or how that show is a sign of the apocalypse, etc. (Can you tell I'm a Survivor fan? :D)

We should all try to live and let live with this stuff. You don't like Sopranos? Great! Find what you do like, and enjoy it!

7. I can't flip channels
without seeing the disgusting sight of someone eating worms. And then I am stuck with the thought that some people actually find watching the utter discomfort of people ENTERTAINING. The so-called reality sh** is sickening and it is a DISTURBING TREND; it is worth of comment.

12. really?
I can't remember the last time I saw someone eating worms. I know it hasn't happened on Survivor since Season 2, and we're up to Season 8 now. So your comment really doesn't mean a whole lot, except to be hyperbole, which isn't a great way to start an argument.

As a matter of fact, your entire argument seems to be nothing but hyperbole. Let's see something besides that.

You've made your comment. As a matter of fact, you've made this same comment multiple times. You find it "sickening" that a great many people enjoy watching this game show.

And yet, you somehow find it impossible to ever list any of the things you enjoy, so that we can determine if they are "sickening" or "DISTURBING TRENDS" that might be worthy of comment. It's easy to sit on the sidelines and snipe at other people's likes; put your own on the line for a change.

You also never actually expand on this comment. You just make the comment that it's sickening, and move on, never to return. In future, can we all just accept that Skittles dislikes Survivor, and save you the trouble of posting? I'm perfectly willing to debate the topic with you, but you have to actually respond for that to happen.

if you can comment, so can I. As long as watching people behave in deplorable ways for money is fashionable I will feel free to comment on it.

9. No
The Sopranos is the best series in the history of television.

They are either murderous thugs, hypocritical enablers, or pathetic losers, or some combination thereof. Blech!

No, they're human beings.

10. Yikes!
If the human beings in your life act like the characters on "The Sopranos" you are to be pitied! Not to mention your life is in grave danger!

11. I rented the first season...
...when it came out on video. As I was watching the first season I realized that this was not a show that I would tune in to if I had to wait a week between episodes--I just wouldn't remember to tune in. The show just wasn't doing that much for me. I watched the entire first season only because I'd paid the rental fee and had the videos onhand so I figured that I might as well watch. I don't have cable and I never bothered to rent the second and third seasons when they came out on video.
