...and am starting the psyching up process now. Going or not going isn't a choice...the man was a friend and refraining from paying my last respects isn't an option. In addition, a significant number of my friends also counted him as a friend, and they will also be there.
My sister...the freeper nutcase who moved to Colorado Springs...was diagnosed with agoraphobia. I don't feel that I suffer from it as well, but I also am not drawn to events with 2000 people and nowhere to park (the parking lot holds maybe a couple hundred cars...from there, it's going to be residential street parking and a bit of a walk).
Both of my parents enrolled in the Neptune Society (cremation) with the deliberate intent of saving my brother, sisters and I from attending a funeral service. I've been to three funerals in my life...all three put together didn't have 2000 in attendance.
It will be a good opportunity to say one last goodbye to my friend (although I believe that friends never truly leave us), and to focus on something other than life under my little umbrella.
