Poll question: Baseball: Pennant Race or Playoffs?
Edited on Mon Oct-04-10 11:24 AM by hedgehog
IMO, it hasn't been the same since they started night games. Everyone knows the best way to follow a baseball game is with a transistor radio turned down low and hidden under your textbook on the desk. That's how we followed the Series, old school!

6.  We listened to the 1962 World Series in class on the big radio with vacuum tubes

Russ Hodges lived in our neighborhood and we were keen on baseball. Our teacher was, too.

The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant! (well, almost)

We were slick, our transistor radio had cool earplugs so we could listed to regular season day games.

7. I'd've said "pennant race" except that they broke into three divisions
and have a god damned wild card.*

three divisions
the designated hitter
tying winner of All-Star Game to WS home-field advantage
and other "innovations"

irritate me to no end. Dammit!

* I say this fully aware that my team won the '02 Series as the AL wild card, and their opponent was the NL wild card.
