...what were your best sources for guidance and info and just plain help
when you were learning (as you are probably STILL learning) to be parents?

My folks learned much by trial-and-error/hit-and-miss with my oldest sibling,
MiddleFingerMomTom. Much too strict, they learned to relax more and more with
each successive child (four in all). They expressed a desire for a "do-over"
with MiddleFingerMomTom (though, as with the vast majority, they did the best
with what they had/knew).

1. listen, watch, learn what the baby/kid needs. they will tell you. and go back to what mom did

she was good. i had a good example and could trust in what she taught me.

i read all the books and magazines and had a good network of friends we shared with. that was helpful. but the biggest two are, kids let you know what they need, even discipline.... and if it was good enough for me, good enough for my kids.
