A&E Hoarders: Sir Colonel Dr. Patrick Donovan Flanagan O'Shannahan. Tonight.
Sir Colonel Dr. Patrick Donovan Flanagan O'Shannahan or “Sir Patrick” collects dolls and antiques from all around the world.

I like this man, he's not like most hoarders, more of an uber eccentric.

The other hoarding family on tonight's season premier, very sad.

"Sir Patrick" of Fort Charlotte on the other hand, quite charming!

:P

2. Yep.
It's how they got that way.

Interesting dynamic between the dad and others.

He's very loyal to the family and to each family member, maybe to a fault.

3. this episode caused me to wonder
if hoarding is a separate issue from cleanliness and hygeine.
The second family had issues with hoarding for sure but they also had issues with garbage and never cleaning anything. The damage done to their house appears to be from lack of hygeine.
Why would the adult children not clean aything?
This was a very disturbing family to watch - they need serious help but do not want it.

And why did they return the cats? Kept in cages with 7" of fecal matter in them? That is abuse of an animal for pete's sake.

4. That guy was a serious trip!
I have known some hardcore eccentrics in my time but that guy certainly takes the cake! :wow: :D I am not sure I would call him a true hoarder either. It was sad to see his expectations about the worth of his collections completely dashed. Yup. sometimes keeping a handle on some reality is neccessary.

That other family was frightening, especially that Dad -- I thought he was going to get violent a couple of times. :scary: The whole family is in deep denial abot how bad they disease is.

And the episode with the older woman who had two dead cats found under her garbage?!??! Oh my gosh, I was so upset when they showed that -- I really wanted to punch her lights out after that.

This is a very challenging show to watch -- the sujects can be so frustrating to the point if losing sympathy for them. When a family is faced with losing their damn children and they are still resistant to getting the help they need I honestly think the kids would be better off in a different living environment.
