I mailed in my "hear now" application yesterday
In about 6 weeks I will have hearing aids again. I have been without ears for almost a year now,I think that contributed to that horrible bender I went on in july. Because I am so isolated when I am without hearing aids.

Oh well, I can't wait. I'll let you all know when I get my ears finally.

1. Dang, that's gotta be tough, not being able to hear. Good luck to you.

2. It does suck
The worst is when people get visibly annoyed when you ask them to speak up or repeat themselves. I have been holding off going to group, I'll start going when I get my ears again.

3. I know what you mean.
People think I am rude or ignoring them, when I just can't HEAR them. Say something to my back--sorry didn't hear you. Forget noisy restaurants. It can be very exhausting being hearing impaired.

4. Yeah, it's very maddening.
Some people also tend to think I'm stupid because I can't hear them.

I was at a restaurant with a table full of friends. When the waitress took my order, my ex repeated every question she asked. The waitress got annoyed and asked if I NEEDED everything told to me twice.
Everyone at the table blurted out, "HE'S DEAF!"....that waitress turned several shades of red and I thought she was going to end up purple!! She never apologized, but after shutting her down in front of the whole restaurant, I didn't need one.
