Help with e-ciggie
Mr. Yankeepants cannot stop smoking. We have been through gum and patches and Chantix and nothing works. It is his heroin.

I have a friend who is using an e-ciggie and so far likes it.

Can anyone here give me any advice/opinion/direction? I really don't want to lose this man to the big C.

Thanks all

5. Electronic cig.
Gives you the nicotine hit without smoking.

7. You do get nicotine? Without the cigs? Down side, anyone?
As a smoker who is unable to quit, and someone who is now smoking the cheapest I can get, I want more info. I always said "all I need is a nicotine delivery device", and it sounds like someone listened.

9. For me, the only downside
...is that there's no "burny" sensation when I draw on an e-cig. :)

and may contact you after a little research on it.

22. Not many that I can think of.
You're still maintaining a smoking habit, but it's a far, far less dangerous one. You're still getting nicotine, but none of the smoke and harmful effects of smoking. From what I understand, it uses a nicotine liquid to provide a nicotine mist when it's heated up. There are still some negative effects from the nicotine itself, but it's the smoke that's the worst part of smoking. I'm looking to get one for my significant other as well.

But that's what it sounds like. Is it pretty much the same thing?

6. I use Vapor4Life e-cigs - Google it
They kick some serious ass. I've had NO cravings for the regular thing since starting up with them. In fact, regular old cigarettes make me ill now to be around. I spend about $40 a month on the e-cigs instead of $150 - $200 on the death versions, and I even use them while I'm working out (which I didn't have much energy to do at all before).

Google it, since I don't want to be seen promoting a product, although I'm not associated with them in any way other than a customer.

8. So you can use them anywhere
Edited on Sun Aug-15-10 03:55 PM by hippywife
without any odor to disturb people around you? I see the cartridges come in 5-packs. How long does one cartridge last?

13. I vape at work, in the car, at restaurants, on the golf course, at the mall, etc.
They're legal to puff on anywhere because there isn't any second hand smoke (though sometimes you have to explain what they are and how they work). The only by-product is water vapor. If I'm vaping on something strong (like Marlboro flavor or Cuban Cigar flavor), my wife can usually smell it after a couple of hours. Usually, though, I'm puffing on banana or butterscotch, and those leave a pretty good smell in the air.

Every month, I buy 3 five-packs of cartridges and a 30 ml bottle of "juice" to refill the cartridges. I wait for the 20% off sales (they come along once or twice a month) before I purchase anything. So, the cartridges last me about 2 days each, refilling them with the juice when they start losing their flavor. At the end of the month, I usually have about half of the juice left, so I save it for later. I have 8 or 10 half-full bottles sitting on my shelf right now that I've built up, so I have a variety of flavors to puff on when I feel like it. Some people boil their cartridges to make them last even longer, but I did that once and the house stunk like nicotine for a month, making me sick.

I tried lots of different types of e-cig setups, and I liked V4L's the best. They're cleaner and far easier to use, since the atomizer and cartridge are in one unit that you connect to the battery. Plus, V4L has some of the best flavors and the greatest variety of flavor and strength combinations. The USB passthrough is awesome, too - you connect the cartridge to the passthrough, then plug it into a USB port on your computer for power. I work on a computer all day, and I can vape any time I want.

17. Try the quitnet.com They are a site dedicated to quitters and have lots
of info on quitting smoking. I found it really hard to quit. I tried Champix/Chantix. That separated the act of smoking from the pleasure centres of my brain. Then when I did have a crave I smoked those god awful herbal cigarettes. Now whenever I think of smoking I am disgusted. It can be done. Try the quitnet.com or get your husband to try it. It worked for me.

I couldn't control my anger. That problem stopped not very long after I stopped taking them.

23. Joyetech eGo - hands down the best starter e-cig
Not bad for seasoned vapers, either.

27. My goddaughter who has schizophrenia and is a heavy smoker has tried e-cigs.
Initially she liked them but she has since gone back to regular cigarettes, smoking at least a pack a day. I don't know why because I think she gets more nicotine from the e-cigs. It's too bad since they are less expensive and not as bad for her.
