Poll question: How often do you clean?
Vacuum, dust, bathroom(s), mopping?

I usually clean once a week, but I do it over two days. It's too difficult for me to do it all in just a day. Occasionally I'll go a week and a half if I'm not feeling well or I'm busy.

1. every day i am cleaning one way or another. and the house too big to ever clean it all.
i am just not that good. there is always something, somewhere. and then kids and a husband...

having company every coupld months is a good thing. makes me do it all at once. but i always see more to do.

5. clean? what the hell is that?
crickets must be eating something, the ants are getting the rest

series, the kitchen gets straightened daily, even a couple times a day
bathroom when I can't stand it any more (monthly? toilet a little more often)
rest of the house? hahahhaha about once or twice a year if/when company is coming
keep the door to the back of the house (where two grown boys den) shut

floors get shoveled or vacuumed when the grit starts to get on my nerves or the cat hair is ankle deep, whichever comes first.

7. I used to work with a nurse who always said she cleaned her house
"every 3 months whether it needs it or not".

I thought,"Wow! That's a lot!"

We are not slaves to the vacuum cleaner although we have about 4 of them...

8. My dear one_voice!
Clean?

I do the dishes and stuff like that all the time. The heavy cleaning (vacuuming, dusting, mopping, etc.) gets done every other week by my wonderful cleaning lady!

I HATE house cleaning.

11. I hate housework, but....
it hates me more. Dishes are a daily thing or people start looking at me like I'm from another planet. I'm kind of strange about this, (but not anything else-ha) My parents both worked and growing up, their home was on the kids to clean, out of a lack of appreciation for that, I ask my kids to take care of their rooms and help out some, but the rest of the house and the chores are mine. It is a constant battle which I lose on a daily basis. They won't stop wearing clothes or eating and I just don't know what to do some days.
Things in the lounge been kinda quiet a coupla days Mi Fi Mo, have you and Miss Kali been out on an adventure corralling rattlers or beating back an old escort,(I do mean the car)?

Troubling matters on me mind, would like a quiet chat with this guy I'm advised is really sharp and seriously ethical...Do you think I should ask?

19. With three dogs who are constantly shedding, we have to keep after the floors.
I give the downstairs a thorough cleaning every week, but need to vacuum more often to keep after the dust-bunnies.

The upstairs just gets weekly vacuuming and dusting.

21. I knew a woman who
Said with a straight face that "She always cleans the bathroom thoroughly once a year." She said it like it was a good thing and she was proud of herself for being a good housekeeper.

I'm no model housekeeper and the dust in my rarely used areas should/does embarrass me but the kitchen and bathrooms are always clean. I don't know why dusting is not on my list. I guess I don't like the residue left from polishes and have never tried another method. But I really do let the dust go far too long.

Why am I typing? Sunday mornings are my vacuuming time.

22. Every darn day!
I have 7 dogs and 3 cats. The kitchen floor and hallway get mopped almost daily. Believe me, after doing this for so long, its nothing. I use my trusty Libman mop and a double bucket. Clean water in one side, rinse in the other. My hands never touch the yukky water and do not have to change water as often.

I hate dirty dishes in the sink, so unitl I get my dishwahser installed (sitting in the box) we wash dishes several times a day.

I purge and clean inside the fridges weekly. Clean the stove and fridge and counters daily. Counters are bare except for fruit bowl and coffee maker.

I do laundry almost every day. Again pets - they get on everything. I love my front loader washing machine - its a snap to use.

Have to have a clean bathroom - Mr. Bubbles and a green scrubbie pad and then sprayed with Lysol with bleach and its shiny white again.

Do not dust as much as I should. And I buy new mini blinds when they get dirty. I pay to have the yard maintained.

Its not that bad since I've gotten rid of so much stuff. Very streamlined - kitchen, bedrooms, clothes, etc.

I was in the military, so cleaning is not an issue. Dirty things give me the creepies.

33. I'm the opposite, dont want to leave a mess for someone else to deal with
There have been 2 sudden death instances in my small town (car wrecks) and it has motivated me to get my life in order. Gotten rid of lots of crap that would be of no interest to anyone - I don't even know why I had it.

I have insurance, so that is okay and I've let family know that I want to be cremated. I see my sister dragging all her stuff to tend to her husband's grave and I just don't want anyone to have to do that for me. My ashes will be scattered, heck use me for in my cat's litter box - just don't make a fuss. My father was the same way. My father's family was like that - simple, clean. My mother's total chaos. I guess its true that opposites attract.

I think people tend to be more cluttered than dirty. Getting rid of stuff is so freeing.

I want to live a beautiful clean uncluttered life.

25. It's kind of a progressive thing
I look at something filthy, go "ewww", and clean it. No schedule here. And I can't clean the whole house in one day. Or even in several days. The house is kind of big.

I consider scooping the litter boxes cleaning, too, and I do that twice a day.

Bathroom, once a week.

Dusting - eh. Sweep the floors (no carpet, thank god) several times a week. Mop? What's that? I despise mopping.

scoop the litter boxes about 8 times a day, clean with soap and water and change the litter completely once a week, every other day I take some clorox wipes and clean the bathroom counters and toilet and dump some comet in the toilet and scrub toilet every other day.

Once a week I dust, vacuum, sweep and mop, clean the bathtubs and bathrooms, kitchen and laundry room.

32. my kind of cleaner!
although I use Lysol toilet bowl cleaner in the toilet and then spray it with Lysol with bleach spray.

A pet peeve is dirty baseboards, especially in the bathroom - yucko.

Remember going to a friend's house for their wedding reception and they hadn't even scrubbed the toilet - gross.

30. Since moving into an apartment, weekly
And unlike when I lived in a 2 story house (most of which we never used), I can get it all done within an hour or 2 in the evening after work. Vacuum, dust, load of laundry, load/unload dishwasher, wipe down kitchen.
Before all of that would take a full weekend day..which I hated since it took away one of my days off! Now it is no big deal, even after a long day at work.

34. Once you get it all organized, doesnt take long at all
I mopped, cleaned out the fridge, straightened out the pantry, put on some laudry, cleaned the stove, washed dishes in all under an hour.

I was done for the day and then just relaxed and watched TV.

35. The dishes and laundry are a winless battle.
I sometimes load the dishwasher three times a day. We do a lot of cooking at home (family of four). The kids empty the dishwasher about once a day, but that isn't always enough. I'm constantly sweeping up cat hair and kitchen crumbs (I usually sweep the kitchen at least once a day). The main bathroom I'm always trying to wipe down here and there, and then I clean the toilets when they look like they can use it. When we have company the house gets a pretty good cleaning all at once, which is unusual and leaves me exhausted. I'm into decluttering, too, and have gotten rid of a LOT of stuff, but there's always more to get rid of. A lot of indoor pets (three kitties, a bunny, two hamsters) don't help our cleanliness situation -- I'm constantly scooping litter boxes or cleaning cages/pens.
