I just became a foster mom to this adorable Pit mix.....
She's 3 months old and I tell you, I've had lots of puppies, but this little girl is so smart. She knows just how to manipulate my other dogs by being submissive when she needs to and teasing other times. She's so adorable. She already knows my other dogs names and I'll ask her to go play with one of them and she knows which one to go to. She was barking in her kennel when I first brought her home and I told her "no bark" and she stopped. With no training whatsoever.

She's been in the cold stark dog pound for at least 2 months now and I can't believe no one has adopted her. She's laying on my lap right now and the thought of this little sweet thing being in the pound with no human contact for practically her whole life just breaks my heart. Probably because she's a pit mix. My Akita can be a little dog aggressive and she nuzzles up to her to sleep already.

Knowing me, I'll end up keeping her. I was only going to foster to help save some dogs, but not sure I can do that without getting attached.

Please if you can adopt or foster a shelter dog, do so. They said she was on her last days there. I can't believe they'd euthanize this sweet little girl. And don't be afraid of pits. Please...they are not the horrible creatures people make them out to be. I think most people here know that, but there are those few.

This is her and my Akita tonight. Terrible quality picture but you can see how adorable she is.

1. My dear S n o w b a l l !
Oh, she's adorable! I'd lay good odds that you will keep her...

She's already made a home for herself in your home.....and in your heart...

Does she have a name yet?

Congrats, mom!

2. Oh, Peggy...
I think you may be right and that wasn't my intention at all. I already have two dogs and two cats and I really shouldn't have another, but I should have known I couldn't do this without getting attached.

Her name is Sassy.

6. Well, I would have been calling her Dys...
I'm sure. :) Her name was Sassy when I got her. Not sure she really knew it, but it was a cute fitting name so I'm keeping it. She's gonna be a little hellion I can tell already.

I resisted letting her sleep with me tonight and she's in her kennel asleep. It's still possible that I'll let her be adopted. I'd like to keep fostering and save some of these beautiful little dogs.

My sister's dog ran off and she's almost like my dog I keep her so much. I'm really devasted by it and it in the process of looking for her, I realized all the dogs that needed homes. So here I am. I'll probably end up like one of those ecentric old ladies with 27 dogs and a house full of feces. LOL

love ya!

9. That's how Donna and I ended up with eight.
They just sort of accumulated, once they came here they never left. Out of all them, the only one that we got deliberately was the Aussie. I got her as a Valentine present for Donna and there was no doubt that she was MY dog. I'm down to three now and two of them are getting on in years.

Since we had a fenced in back yard, I put in a dog door and all of them picked up the idea within a few minutes. We called them the "Thundering Herd" They ranged in size from 8 lbs to 100 lbs.

She is adorable. Glad she's out of the pound and will have a life in a loving home- whether it be yours or someone else's.

You are an angel!

8. Well, thanks...
in my eyes, she's the angel that has already brought me so much joy. Now I could be cursing and screaming next week about what a pain in the ass she is, but I don't think so. She's a doll. Something about shelter animals. They are so appreciative and so good.

10. Seconded!
All of our family came from the shelter, both the dogs and cats. I've never once regretted having them here...well, OK, a few curse words here and there, but I swear that's about it.

15. Had a rescued pit/lab mix. Was the sweetest dog in the world.
I nicknamed her "bunny rabbit." What a great dog and companion. Until she ran off unleashed on a walk and was run over. I've never recovered from that one.

Thanks for your story. Looks like it will have a happier ending, and I am grateful.
