got in his eye line during a tense scene and he went off on him. I have worked on sets professionally and I have ZERO respect for those kinds of tempermental outburts, especially when they are taken out on crew by above the line folks. Shit flows downstream on a set, and it's usually the poor craft service person who is the last stop. Even tbough make-up crew are generally free of such acts, I was the victim of a mini tirade once and it is utterly humilating to be treated like that in front of your fellow professionals.

so he wasn't a low-level grunt who shouldn't have known better. And while the rant was inexcusable, there was a context. Bale was doing the most emotional scene in the film, and been amped up for it for a while, and it was the second time in a row the guy had interrupted the scene. Bale's frustration was understandable, but his rant was sick. But legendary. :)

Plus, when you're worked up like that for something, it's hard to just flip it off. That's why a lot of actors have the reputation of assholes, IMHO. They get paid for their ability to show passionate emotion, not for knowing when not to show it.
