Good place to buy used DVDs? Amazon has everything I
need to purchase, but I don't want to spend $3.99 shipping for each and every one - I need to buy in bulk, and I need to be able to buy the majority of them for under $5/per dvd.

Anyone have any suggestions? Much appreciated! Thanks!

1. I was going to suggest signing up for Amazon Prime, but
when I looked I realized that it doesn't work with the 3rd party vendors. Can definitely recommend it for use with regular Amazon though. Sorry.

5. yeah, it is a bit of a bummer that the 3rd party vendor
sales all require separate shipping ...

9. She has some problem with potassium - she can't maintain a level
amount in her blood, and at times she gets seizures from it - she has had 3 or 4 such episodes since she got home from the hospital.

We are trying to maintain her potassium level with medication.

Thanks for asking, FB - My brother may have a good source for used DVD's, but he is on vacation out west - I will contact you when he gets home again.

I went there for the first time this week and they have a huge variety and great prices. They're also willing to order titles for you. I went to a store, but you can also order online. :)

11. Better World Books
Buy all my used books here...free shipping.....you might contact them by email for bulk prices....

From their website:

Better World Books collects and sells books online to fund literacy initiatives worldwide. With more than six million new and used titles in stock, we’re a self-sustaining, triple-bottom-line company that creates social, economic and environmental value for all our stakeholders.
We were founded in 2002 by three friends from the University of Notre Dame who started selling textbooks online to earn some money, and ended up forming a pioneering social enterprise — a business with a mission to promote literacy.

We’re not a traditional company with an add-on “cause” component. Social and environmental responsibility is at the core of our business. You could say it's in our DNA.

We’re breaking new ground in online bookselling. We believe that education and access to books are basic human rights. That's why books sold on BetterWorldBooks.com help fund high-impact literacy projects in the United States and around the world.

All books are available with free shipping to any location within the United States (or $3.97 worldwide). And in case you’re concerned about your eco-footprint, every order is shipped carbon neutral with offsets from Carbonfund.org.

Here’s the best part: In addition to selling new titles, Better World Books supports book drives and collects used books and textbooks through a network of over 1,800 college campuses and partnerships with over 2,000 libraries nationwide. So far, the company has converted more than 35 million donated books into $7.5 million in funding for literacy and education. In the process, we’ve also diverted more than 13,000 tons of books from landfills.

Because we believe that most every book has lasting value and the potential to help change the world, we see our job as helping to find new homes for unwanted books. Thus far, we’ve donated 2.3 million books to partner programs around the world. Our five primary literacy partners are Books for Africa, Room to Read, Worldfund, the National Center for Family Literacy, and Invisible Children. Good company, no doubt.

Every book purchased from Better World Books contributes to individual literacy throughout the world and the promise of a better life. Clearly, we can’t do this work without our customers. That's why we’re so passionate about trying to offer the best price, selection, customer service, and overall shopping experience.

Thanks for joining us in our mission to create a better world, one book at a time.

12. Do they have to be used? Are there specific titles or...
genres involved?

Wal-Mart (gasp!) Big Lots, local supermarkets... all sorts of stores around here have under $10 and often under $5 DVDs for sale if you find the right display. Very few hits in the mix, but some classics and often overlooked but surprisingly good stuff. I've got a fair-sized pile I got for as little as 3 bucks that I'm slowly getting around to watching.

14. no, they don't have to be used... And I will go scour the
bins at Walmart and Big Lots (I also have a fair number of Big Lots $3 movies). There is a specific title list requested, so I need to fulfill the request, but some of them are probably available at discount retailers.

18. Alibris is pretty good for used books and movies
I stumbled on it awhile back when I was searching for an out of print book.
It's seems to be basically consolidating independent sellers to make it easy to buy and ship from them.
And they do a good job at describing condition in a standard way to make it easy to differentiate on price and condition.

They're pretty good at sending discount coupons out to you after you've ordered from them, which could reduce your amount more.

I've been happy with the orders I've received from them, especially since I've been able to find items there I couldn't find anywhere else.
