'Sir' Patrick Stewart??
Star Trek star Patrick Stewart knighted at Palace

Actor Sir Patrick Stewart paid tribute to a former teacher as he was knighted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

The 69-year-old said he owed "literally everything" to the English teacher who first encouraged him to perform.

"Although many people in my life have had great influence on me, without this man none of it would have happened," he said following Wednesday's investiture.

The classically-trained actor is best known for his roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation and the X-Men films.

He was recently seen on the London stage appearing alongside fellow actor knight Sir Ian McKellen in Waiting for Godot.

Sir Patrick said his knighthood - announced in the New Year Honours List - had been "an unlooked-for honour".

"But as I grew up as a child, falling in love with the theatre and Shakespeare, my heroes were Sir Laurence Olivier Sir John Gielgud," he continued.

"The knights of the theatre represented to me not only the pinnacle of the profession but the esteem in which the profession was held.

And he shows up in full costume. I think the Queen would freak out.

15. I don't think Mr. Dorn would need any costume to freak out the queen. nm

19. He's a below-average bass-player.
A "plonker".

I liked him as Worf. Good character.

6. It was the American Dad cameos that put him over the top with the queen.
I hear she's a big Seth McFarlane fan.

7. Why do they have to call him
Star Trek's Patrick Stewart? That was just a blip in his career, of much more weighty material.

He's an awesome actor. I'm glad he's been recognized. :hi:

10. Well, it's an article for the masses; I'd bet more people know him for Star Trek than anything else.
Still, it would have been extra-cool if he'd been knighted for his appearance in Lifeforce.

11. Because "David Lynch's 1984 adapatation of Dune's Patrick Stewart" is a bit ungainly.
however many additional geek points* it may accrue for the writer.

*They're like those old green stamps from the grocery store, except you can only spend them at ren faires and events with names that end in Con.

12. good point
Sir Alec Guinness was notoriously pissed that his Star Wars role defined his career in the latter years of his life...

I remember the newspaper review of his autobiography back in the 90s, and the review mentioned that out of a 600-something page autobiography, his Star Wars work was only mentioned in four pages...

From Wikipedia
...according to London's Daily Mail, he was offered a knighthood or honorary knighthood in 1987, but turned it down for personal and political reasons.

yes, I know...Wikipedia quoting the Daily Mail...not exactly the most reliable sources, but...it might explain it.

Siege of Camelyarde

Some flaws in the clip however, but as metaphor have to change the meaning to view it, so there are ways to see it. As said before it is not about faith in people. And if I wrote that script, I would have made that scene in that clip differently.

Although on the topic of OP, glad Patrick got knighted, he has contributed much to theater.

Many good lessons from many of his roles.

That clip has some edgyness to it some probably think on.

So a better Patrick Stewart movie, because I do think he contributes alot to theater.

X-Men The Last Stand

Meeting of Gene, or is it Jean. I think there could be a comment on something in that film, I don't think it has to do with genealogy. Although some think on those concepts.

I really liked this quote

Professor Xavier: I feel a great swell of pity for the poor soul who comes to that school looking for trouble.

I will say this, from what I have heard Patrick Stewart say in interviews, I do respect his thoughts and feelings.

21. He is one of the best Shakespearean actors alive
The knighthood is probably tied into that more than anything.

I would LOVE to see him and McKellen in "Godot".
