What is the most favorite car/truck that you have owned.
Edited on Sat May-29-10 02:14 PM by madinmaryland
1974 Monte Carlo. The one pictured is the exact color and layout of the one I owned.

Mine had a 454ci V-8 Chevy Big block engine. I ended up rebuilding the engine after it blew and oil pump. The engine was a beast, and my buddy still has the engine.

Edited to add: Bikes (motorized or not can be included)

2. My '68 Galaxie fastback with a 390. I still have her.
A buddy of mine in high school had a Monte Carlo, but I think it was a '73. Did yours have the rotating seats so you could just step out of the car? His did. Very cool. That's the only car I've ever seen with those.

4. It did not have those type of seats, though they were power seats.
The dealer I bought it from had originally sold it to an older lady who had taken good care of it. It was nine years old when I bought it.

I got it roughly a month ago, and I love the damn thing...I've always wanted one. I've never been much of a car/truck person, as in having a fave, but I've always like the look/room of the Suburbans.

8. Two -- from both ends of the spectrum...
.
.
.
.
...a 1970 Dodge Charger (all these years, I've remembered it as a
1971, but it didn't have the split grill of that year), FAST, meaty
thrum of an engine sound, powerful, absolutely no ass on that car
though (used to sandbag the trunk for traction). Vroom...VROOM!!!
.
Mine was white with a black vinyl top. I totaled it -- as all good
muscle cars SHOULD be when it is their time.
.

.
.
...a 1979 Honda CVCC (1300cc engine, underpowered -- discontinued
in 1979 for the better-gas mileaged 1500cc model). Kinda whiny, rough
ride, could NEVER get it to break 100 (though I tried... OH, how I
tried). Thought it was the last car in America under $4000 new ($3999),
but the Chevy Chevette had two slightly cheaper models. Handled like
an extremely TIGHT go-kart -- FUN, FUN, FUNFUNFUN!!!!!!
.
The wheels in the picture are in pretty much EXACTLY the same shape
as mine were.
.

Among other mods, the exhaust system is for a '73 because that year didn't have catalytic converters and was the only year that generation had stock dual exhausts available. He has to be careful where he goes for state inspection.

the last year before catalytic converters were added.

11. I've hated every car I've ever owned.
I'm always pissed off when I have to buy one, like every twenty or thirty years or so.

I bought a new car once when I was young. If I'm lucky I'll never do that again. I remember feeling like I had to wash it or something. And maybe I'd have to feel bad if somebody scratched it. With an $800 car I don't care. If anybody dinged my door in the parking lot, how would I know?

I've been riding the same bicycle for about forty years. It's a Nishiki. My dad bought it for me when I was a kid. It's now as ugly as my cars; the paint is faded, the shine is gone, and many parts have been replaced, but I like it.

18. toss up
the first "all mine" almost new vehicle - 83 1/2 Nissan 4x4 kingcab pick up - got that truck was a lot of fun

then much more recently, also fun, but in a totally different way - the abandoned vehicle (human smuggling) blue 78 chevy hippy van, complete with shag carpeted walls and ceiling AND purple flames on the sides. It too was a lot of fun - it embarrassed the HELL out of my children when they were in middle school:rofl:

Edited on Sun May-30-10 07:06 AM by Tommy_Carcetti

My real "first" car, after my sister's hand-me-down died. Great little car, took me everywhere and anywhere. Had it all through college. Made multiple trips from Maryland to Florida and back and forth. Only gave me three mechanical problems in its 150,000 mile lifetime. Sadly totalled on I-95 but even then it protected me perfectly in the crash.

26. Now THAT looks like it was a cool car!
My favorite on the other hand, was not at all 'cool' in anyway. It was a 1982 4 cylinder Chevy Chevette 4 door hatchback. A very unattractive car. :-)

But at age 22 and a single mother, it was my first; and always got me where I wanted to go. I bought it for $500 and drove it for 4 years with nothing other then basic maintenance needed. It was 11 years old and had 170,000 miles, but was still 'tickin' when when I sold it to someone for $100. It saw me through the best and worst years of my life.

28. Not much of a car lover. I like my newest car, which I got last week.
A 2009 Ford Focus SE. Looks exactly like this.

Good mileage (32 mpg) and all the amenities I could want. Affordable (barely). And the cupholder perfectly fits my tea mug.

I don't know exactly when things changed, if ever they did, but in my opinion, your average Ford today is a pretty darn good car.

29. My present vehicle: 2007 Jeep Liberty.
Now mine is the standard factory stock version... but if I had the money and the ability... I'd have my Liberty looking something like this:

Grocery getter it's not. This is for serious off-roading. And even my stock Liberty has managed plenty of off road situations quite nicely. It's a nice high enough vehicle, full of safety features, because it's small it is as nimble and easy to turn as most small to mid-size vehicles, and is almost as capable as my wifes' minivan for hauling stuff around inside (though I have to fold down the rear seats for doing so).

30. I've only had three cars since I started driving 23 years ago
Edited on Sun May-30-10 09:26 AM by Rob H.
I've liked them all, but now I'm back to driving the first new car I ever bought, a 1991 Jeep Wrangler that now has just over 195,000 miles on it. A tree limb fell on my 2001 Dodge Stratus R/T (the second new car I bought) during a tornado last June and totaled it, so it's a good thing I never got rid of the Jeep!

The aforementioned Stratus:

I bought the Stratus because it reminded me of my first car, a 1982 Honda Prelude I got in 1988. I'd like to find a new car that's as fun to drive as that old Honda and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

33. My favorite and my most loyal
Favorite was a 1961 Pontiac Safari Wagon. No picture found that I liked of it.

My most loyal was a '82ish Dodge Ram Pickup. It worked, and I mean worked, 3-4 hurricanes with me and never let me down in a way I couldn't fix. It was finally impounded because I left it near a bar in Bal Harbor, FL. because I was too drunk to drive and took the bus. Ol' Jake didn't really fit in there

I went to get it out 3 days later on payday and they wanted like $600. RIP Jake.

when I got out of college...brand spanking new and I loved that little car.

Had a job where I drove all over the NC mountains down into the hollers and up the hills, that little front wheel drive pulled me through many a snowdrift.

I've got a pic here someplace......it was my seventh (and last) Porsche. Faster than a 911s; radical build on the motor.
Paid $4800 cash (about 24,000 in today's $) in '73 for it.
Even then that was a screaming deal; I sold it for 6k three years later.
It was my daily driver. I think part of the "favorite" sentiment came from the place I was at at the time.
