I became a cat mom for time this evening
Edited on Thu May-27-10 01:50 PM by MissHoneychurch
A co-worker died two weeks ago and her husband isn't able to take care of the cat at the moment. So I volunteered to take care of the cat. He is a two year old Persian. His name is Ammun.

At the moment he is hiding in my bathroom.

when I sit next to him he lets me pet him. He seems to be an easy going fellow.

What does TLC mean?

5. Tender Loving Care
So do what you are doing and when you get a purr, you will know you're winning lol.

Personally I think you should take tomorrow off to take special care of your new tenant.

31. We have a male that will hover like a vulture over your shoulder when you eat milk and cereal. He
will actually do it whenever you eat from a bowl now, and boy has he been surprised when he begs for milk but winds up with chili. LOL

Is so ugly, he is adorable. Is this a temporary situation? He's in good hands with you for sure. I hope you and he get along and bond and you can keep him. But you must change his name to Mr. Tinkles and put sweaters on him in the winter.

Can't wait for more pictures!

:woohoo: :applause:

33. It is temporary
once the husband decided if he wants to keep Ammun Mr. Tinkles or not, then we decide how it continues.

He is a sweetheart. Yesterday evening he hid in my bathroom. Only when I was sitting on the floor, he felt secure enough to venture out and have a look. Tonight while I was sleeping he went to the living room. Now he is hiding behind my couch.

Once he feels more secure I will take more pics of him

40. Ammun is behaving very much as would be expected for a cat in his position.
Cats need time to become comfortable in new surroundings.

Poor thing just lost both his humans, and to a cat there is no sense that either will come back until they show up. He's sizing up the new human and environs. The fact that he is already exploring beyond the bathroom is a good sign. He must have made the tentative assessment that you're friend not foe. :D

32. It looks like you might need to clean his face-
I've never had a persian, but I do know that like pugs, they can get gook in their eyes and noses- and it looks like he's getting a bit crusty there on his right eye. You might want to check online at some persian sites to see what they recommend - warm water on a damp, soft cloth at least.
Here's a couple sites I found right off-
http://www.essortment.com/all/persiancatscar_reid.htm
http://cat-care.suite101.com/article.cfm/a_guide_to_persian_cat_care)

Good luck with him, he's probably still confused and really missing his cat-mommy - they don't forget very easily.

36. I cleaned his face a little bit this morning
but he wasn't too happy about that. But he lets me pick him up, so that is a good sign.

Thanks for the links, I will check them out.

My grandmother had a Persian years ago but her face wasn't as flat as Ammun's.

37. awww, what a sweetpea.
It's so good of you to take him in.

Just let him get used to his surroundings. He'll be right as rain in no time...and be open to the snugglin's, you know they're coming.

38. He really is a sweetpea
very friendly towards me even though he met me for the first time yesterday. When I come to pet him he comes and purrs. :loveya:

I let him take his time to get used to me and my condo. I know in no time he will be the boss. Last night he ventured from the bathroom to the living room. This morning he was hiding behind the couch.
