Paging Dr. Freud....
...So my husband wakes up MAD at me yesterday.

Sez he had a dream that we were living in the basement
of a derelict baseball stadium in our town, and that I
was "grifting" men and cheating them out of money.

He said that in his dream, I was actively scamming some
guy and that he (my husband) got angry and tried to pull
me away from the "mark", if you will.

He sez that I kept saying (in a whisper, out of the side
of my mouth...) "Check out the haul under the bed".

I said this repeatedly, and he woke up with it echoing in
his head and he was MAD at me!

A bit of background for you amateur psycologists...my
husband has been "under-employed" for about 7 years, and
I am a premise salesperson. I have to put on mascara and
leave the house every day, and he "works" from home.

Will this dream motivate him, or am I in trouble?

 :P

1. Did he look under the bed before telling you about this dream?
If not, I'd say it doesn't mean anything. (But then, I say a lot of things that are wrong...) :)

3. OK. What's a "premise salesperson".
I am not familiar with that term.

5. I visit businesses all day.
Cold calling and renewing advertising.

Premise sales is differentiated from
other sales by the "door to door" nature
of the work, as opposed to tele-sales.

I have gone into some weird situations in
my time, and frequently meet with people
in their homes.

6. Vell, ve haff to ask vether there haff been any ozzer problems!
Duss your husband haff any reason for feelings of inadequacy? Ze "luff life," it is good, ja?
:P

Okay, I've gone too far. I'm kidding. Here's a bit of amateur psychoanalysis: I think he's feeling uncomfortable with the reversal of traditional roles that it looks like your marriage features. This may well be something he can rationally view as circumstantial, and not meaning anything in terms of his manhood, but reason does not enter into our dreams.

Note the bowels of the baseball stadium. It's a male enclave; one does not see women down there. Your presence there is a pretty clear indication that you're on man's turf in your work. I am not sure why he would have chosen the grifter angle, but maybe that's because I have no idea how one sells "premises".

Anyway, ze serapy I prescribe iss to embrace non-traditional stuff whenever possible. Rejection of the "norm" is the healthiest thing for him and for you. There's nothing wrong with tradition, but traditional yardsticks cease to measure up as valuable tools for long. Hope that helps.
