Why do people insist on driving without headlights on a foggy morning?
On surface roads with traffic lights during rush hour? Oh and why are 90% of them SUV drivers? Do they thing bigger means more visibility in the fog? :bangehead:
How hard is it to flick on your headlights first thing? I don't get this form of stupidity.

1. Or just having their parking lights on which are not seen as easily
by oncoming traffic. Just turn the lo-beams on and drive. It's not that difficult.

8. are you serious? you are not supposed to drive in fog with high beams/headlights
Edited on Wed Apr-14-10 04:24 PM by pitohui
you are supposed to use fog lights only

its impossible to see thru the fog when you have every particular of moisture in the entire fog cloud lit up by your headlights

maybe the other drivers had parents or teachers or driver's ed classes or something? maybe they're just funny people who like to see where they're going?

or is this whole thread a joke i don't get, which is prob. true of most threads on this site...

12. They aren't driving with high beams they have their lights off!
Geezus Christ. I know you use low beams or fog lights like I have. Read the OP better next time. People need to turn on their fucking lights.

9. The moisture particles reflect and refract; scattering the light and making it harder to see.
Yellow 'fog lights' are appropriate.

10. Simple: selfishness
Seriously, it's because they are only focused on their own experience and so since it is light out and they can see, they don't realize that the other part of the equation is that lights are also *to make one visible*

They are simply not considering what any other people can or cannot see.

11. When I took drivers ed 15 years ago they told us not to do that.
Something about parking lights only in fog or something.

15. Well, I've driven for 40 years (from today in fact) & I've always used my low beams in fog.
I've always found that to work as well as the fog will allow. Not every vehicle has fog lights. In fact, I've never had a car that did have them.

My big gripe is the drivers who drive with their brights on and will never dim them for oncoming traffic or if they are right behind you. What kind of rude bastards do that?

I must admit, compared to when I first started driving in 1970, today courtesy on the road is dead.
