4. So now you have only 1 pet instead of 2?
Probably a bad pet-combination choice.

5. Reminds me of the time
one of our neighborhood barn owls found out that some prey is just too big to swallow whole.

A roof rat's tail was hanging out of the dead owl's beak.

6. My daughter and I learned the lesson of fatal cutey
When we lived in the country we had a mother cat with a four-week old litter of fluff balls. One day, mother cat slipped in from the outside with a live baby rat in her mouth. Before I could extract the poor rodent from the adult cat, she had managed to fling it before her kittens. The fluffiest, sweetest one grabbed the rat in her mouth and backed herself into a corner, growling and hissing at her siblings. I was just about to bend over and steal the rodent when I heard the unmistakable sound of baby-rat neck bone being crushed in kitten jaws. The rest was too horrible to watch but leave it to say, there wasn't a speck of rat baby left when the kitten and her pals were done.
