5 children under the age of 6. Are you insane?
Edited on Fri Apr-02-10 02:18 PM by bif
Our neighbor does. Plus a beagle that barks about 12 hours a day. I ask you, is that crazy or what. Don't get me wrong, I love kids and have two of my own. But five? That's an army of little blingers! And now that it's nice out, his front lawn looks like an ant farm!

4. Sounds like a recipe for another Andrea Yates disaster.
She had five kids too close together. The psychiatrist warned her AND HER HUSBAND, who impregnated her, that after #4, if she had another child, and did not use birth control, she was in danger of tipping into postpartum psychosis.

As far as I am concerned, Russell Yates was just as responsible for the death of those children as Andrea was, although she actually killed them, by refusing to use birth control and proving his virility by making her a baby factory who could not cope with too many kids too close together.

They followed some nutty preacher based in Florida.

And Russell Yates has remarried some sucker of a female, at a church of christ!!! :banghead:

Wonder if she'll be a worn out baby factory too??

5. Two kids is too many for me. But beagles are cool. This guy (or gal) is just unloved
Beagles love people, and praise

Give them praise and company, and they are happy dogs

My daughter is 15 months old. I absolutely cannot imagine four more. OH MY GAWD. I have palpitations just thinking about it. Imagine how much money it takes to feed and clothe that many kids, gaaaah!

7. My mom had four kids in five years.
She took three years off, then had another three kids in five years. There are two sets of near-Irish twins (born 13 months apart) included in this. I have no idea how she kept her sanity.

30. My younger sister and I are Irish twins.
I was born in January, and she in December of that year. She was about a month premature. My mom did the four kids in five years thing, too. See my post below as to why. She kept her sanity thanks to lots of help from my dad, grandmother and aunt.

12. The beagle barking 12 hrs a day says more to me about this family than the kids.
I've known some people with big families who were excellent parents. If the dog isn't new and they haven't probperly trained or cared for it that is usually a sign they've given up hope of having order in the household.

but in these days people are either trying to be fruitful and plentiful :eyes: or are having 100 kids at a time, hence Octomom.

16. Grew up in a town of 50,000...
.
...and the richest self-made man in town started out as a janitor
in a factory and ended up owning THAT factory and another. He was
an EXCEPTIONALLY nice man. Would have a skeleton crew of about 10
volunteers come in and work Saturday morning to finish up the week's
production, come in and work WITH them, then take them all out to
lunch and beer and college football at the bar where I worked.
.
Along the way, he and his wife had THIRTEEN children.
.
The two nearest my age were two boys who were the epitome of rich
asshole kids... who knew they could get away with anything short
of murder -- and a good chance of getting away with that, too.
.
I came back 8-10 years after high school and they had both turned
into really laidback, really NICE adults.
.
Those two parents, who were obviously superhuman in ways we mere
mortals can't even THINK of, didn't ignore those children, nor did
they take any of them for granted just because there were a baker's
dozen of 'em.
.

27. Before they married
Edited on Sat Apr-03-10 06:00 PM by hippywife
my mom had to tell my Catholic Italian father that a doctor had told her she likely couldn't have children due to ovarian cysts.

I was born 8/58 (nine months and three days after wedding), sister 10/59, another sister 11/60, another sister 02/62, miscarried in 63, last sister 2/64. Years of birth control (finally) and little brother born 06/70.

It was really normal at one time, especially in Catholic families. I had a friend who was one of 18 kids. One was adopted and I think there was one set of twins, but I can't remember. But at least the Catholics weren't doing it as a way of pushing their agenda on the country like the Quiverful movement is no doubt trying to do. I hope it backfires on them big time.

:hi:

Said she wouldn't do it any other way. This was before disposable diapers, and she preferred to get that stage all out of the way at one time.
