Serious Pi Day Question

Where did pi come from? Did Moses bring it down from the mountain?

If pi is the ratio of the diameter to the circumference, and 22/7 is only an approximation . . . where did the number 3.141592654 come from? 22/7 is a completely different number, 3.142857143.

We're told that pi is a mysterious number. It can't be that mysterious; it had to come from somewhere. (Eerie organ music)
