11. Most Wiccans think its like 10000 years old
Edited on Wed Mar-24-04 07:42 PM by Mobius
and linked to the celts. Its actually a bastardization of several religions by Crowely and Gardner so they could get young chicks to fuck them in a sex ritual. All accompanied by lots of Opiates. Spare me.
Traditional WitchCraft needs to be distinguished from Wiccan here. Paganism is blanket term for well over 2500 completely different religions, of which Wicca is a tiny tiny part.

16. Only the muppets...
Most of us know it's 50 years old, but based on principles that go back a lot longer (mainly Romanish/Strega, northern European shamanism and the old British religions. But yes, there are Celtic influences.)

Paganism is a blanket term for most of the 'older' religions - including the indigenous religions of Europe, Africa and the Americas.

Neo-paganism covers the re-inventions of those principals, and covers Asatru, Druidism, Wicca etc: Only an idiot would claim it's the original, it's still (IMHO) valid...

By the way, where do you keep your stang?

22. Nothing,
some Asatruar use rocks, plastic or other crap. Might as well carve them from petrified gummy worms! Yew and Birch ARE fruit bearing trees.
And witches have stangs.

13. I had Wiccan friends in college
I do see the point of their religion and respect their worship of nature and the Earth and spirituality. On the otherhand, I also disagree with it, at least the brand that they practiced. I don't believe that it for we as humans to use any power out there. I do not want to "make things happen" or let my moods control the environment around me. I think that it is wrong.
I know that probably not every Wiccan wants to use that power or even tries to. My friends did though, even if it was for good, and considered it a big part of their religion.

14. Actually, serious question here for Wiccans...
How close is Wicca to Druidism? Is it similar, the same or vastly different?

18. VASTLY VASTLY DIFFERENT
Though Wiccans would like to think otherwise. You cant just change a 10000 year old religion to suit your needs. It belittles and marginalizes them.

19. Yes!
Very similar in term of first principles the Earth/nature as a source of natural power, but hugely different in term of practice. I would say that Druidism is actually more nature-based than Wicca - Druids have a tendency to be more in tune with the Earth, whereas Wiccans tend more to the divine, and we have very different rituals and deities: But we get on together than the Catholics and Protestants, so make of it what you will...

30. Honey wine
get a big bottle. Put in 2/3 water, 1/3 honey. Add yeast. wait. find a good looking wiccan. drink.

The romans used to think it was an aphrodisiac, and drank it for a month after getting married - hence "honeymoon".

You need to go to DU for this sort of information... :D

42. Hey, the stuff I make isn't crap.
In fact my homebrew club (The Houston Foam Rangers) think it is some of the best stuff they've tasted.

I'll be entering some of it in the Dixie Cup (largest single-site homebrew comp in the country) this october.

I've got 21 gallons of mead aging now, and will begin fermenting 20 more gallons just as soon as my tupelo honey gets here!

I live in freeperville, where any answer to this question is going to be badly distorted.

Furthermore, I have no one to ask as I don't know any Wiccans.

their religious beliefs are no more or less silly than anyone else's, but they don't prosyletize or claim to have the only right answer so I respect them more than I do members of expansionist faiths.
