The Phils are going to the World Series again, but they'll win it all this year - just like 2008. GO PHILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

6. I keep hoping the buccos owners will have a brain fart
and decide to sell the team to Mario and company. I'm so sick of this farm team bullshit.

7. Well considering we're into the 20th year of the 5 year plan
that may not be so bad.

Actually, I've seen a couple of the kids they hope will turn things around.

They do have the skills.

8. With all the McCourt divorce drama
I am not hopeful about the Dodgers. Behind-the-scenes drama affects team morale more than people realize. Losing Juan Pierre was bad enough, although they had the good sense to keep Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier around. Still, they may pull out a passable season because the NL West is always up for grabs (except for the Padres, who will languish in the cellar). I fear the Rockies will win the division, which would be sickening, lol.

My AL team, the Seattle Mariners, look VERY promising. They should take the AL West crown from the Angels (suffer, Halo fans). They have 2 of the best pitchers in the league in their starting rotation. I expect this will be Griffey's swan song, as he settles into a DH or pinch hitter role.

So my prediction so far is for the Dodgers to MAYBE eke out a wildcard, and then choke again, while the Mariners may yet reach their first World Series this time. Or at least reach the ALCS for the first time since 2001.

The only prediction I am making beyond those, is that every year, one team does much better than anyone expected, and one team disappoints tremendously. But those teams don't reveal themselves until well into June. Last year, the Mariners were the disappointing team, which is why I think they will put it together this year. They did finish 2009 with a respectable 85-77 record, but play in a tough division.

32. If the Halos weren't in it, there's no one I'd like to see in the Series more
than the Mariners.

Or maybe the Rangers.

GO HALOS! O8)

23. Not too soon to say the Rangers are eliminated from playoff contention, either.
I always wondered whether the Saints would win a Super Bowl before the Rangers won a World Series. Now I think the question is whether the Rangers will win a World Series before MLB disbands from lack of interest in another century or so.

24. I haven't followed baseball in the least since the Phillies...
.
... went to the World Series in 1981 ('82?). COOL, exciting, but since... meh.
.
So when I saw the phrase "start an MLB thread", it took me awhile to nail it down.

.
Here's one of the steps I found myself taking when reading the OP's topic
(the first step, in fact -- and, relax... it kinda scares me, too).
.
Hmmm... MLB? Let's see... what the hell is that... Martin Luther.... Bing?

.
.
That caused THIS connection in my head.

Children and those with heart conditions should stop here.

29. I watched an interview with Ryan Howard.
He's been down in Clearwater since DECEMBER THIRD!!!!! He said that he wanted to get started early, working out, toning up, etc. He lost some more weight. He looks better than I've ever seen him.

And he's got that look in his eye. He said that they left behind unfinished business. He wants another ring. He's ready to kick ass and take numbers. wOOt!!!!

I think they are really improved over last year, and Uncle Charley has them ready to go.
