Whats the appeal of the luge?

1. It goes really fast.

I enjoy going fast, but the luge looks a bit scary. Plus, you have to wear a spandex suit, which in my case would be even scarier.

I don't particularly care for the idea of killing myself while sliding down a hill at a ridiculous speed, but sledding is fun.

it's fast, it takes so much skill, and sadly, it can be quite dangerous...

The steering and control involved means more than just "sliding really fast down a hill".

It takes years to perfect the skills. The peak lugers are in their mid-to-late 30's.
