they are supposed to try to score points and you are supposed to try to stop them. They did - you didn't.

Get over it - you lost big.

You gotta love Brett.

And the fact that he whoopped the Cowgirls....just icing on the big ole cake!

I felt such joy in my cold dead heart watching J Jones on the sideline. Utter sheer joy.

8. Didn't that last touchdown give Brett Favre his first
4 touchdowns in a game?

Screw Dallas, the other team was playing the game and setting records. Perhaps Dallas should have tried to do the same.

29. Because he wins.
He manages to win most of the time. This year is one of his best years, only 7 interceptions. But he puts his money where his mouth is and gets it done. He is very, very good, certainly one of the very best. And made the Vikings the team to beat. I think New Orleans is likely to lose to them next weekend, especially if the Minnesota defense plays as well as they did this week,

16. After the 'Boys rolled all over the Eagles 3x this year, the Eagles website
was furious - at the Eagles coaches and players. I don't recall a single post there weeping about the nasty Cowboys running up the score or being nasty.

Face it, Dallas is in last place forever when it comes to class. And I am sure most people replying here are not Eagles fans.

17. Speaks poorly of you, then.
I didn't much care about the TD, and I thought Brooking was out of line complaining about it, but I hated the Vikings reaction afterwards. Everyone knows there's a tradition in football not to do that. The Cowboys weren't even defending against it, anyway, so it's like stealing a base when a pitcher doesn't care.

If the Vikes had just said "Yeah, we got carried away," or "We were trying to pad Brett's numbers to meet an accelerator clause in his contract," I wouldn't care. But the open taunting and whining from the Vikings about it is out of line. You can tell they know they were assholes, because they are all acting more like assholes. It's something you don't do in the NFL, every team knows it, every team complains when it's done to them.

But because some assholes got a stick up their ass about hating the Cowboys, suddenly it's ok. Just speaks poorly of the speaker, that's all.

21. Dallas Cowboys' Keith Brooking motivates the team with pregame fire
http://www.wfaa.com/internal?st=print&id=81921482&path=/sports
Before the Washington game, as players gather around, Brooking screams, "We're gonna keep hitting 'em, we're gonna keep hitting 'em!" Players shout, "Yeah!" after both lines.

Brooking, wide-eyed and picking up speed, says, "They might get back up. Then we're gonna hit 'em again! And when they're barely hanging on ...

At this point Choice cuts in, "What're we gonna do?"

Brooking concludes: "We're gonna hit 'em in the mouth! We're gonna bloody their nose! We're gonna knock 'em to the ground!"

How fitting he was the one who had his underpants in the biggest knot about the Vikings' late score.

23. Which is the point of playing defense in the NFL
You fire up your team before the game.

That's different than a sucker punch after the bell rings.

26. It had rung.
Edited on Mon Jan-18-10 03:34 PM by jobycom
The Cowboys had folded. That's exactly the same as Buddy Ryan making the Eagles fake a kneel down in the final seconds, then throwing a TD pass just to run up the score. That one was so bad even the Eagles players came up to the Cowboys immediately afterwards and apologized for it, saying Ryan forced them to.

The Vikings have no class. Firing up your team before a game is just the way it's done, no one complains about that. The Vikings were doing the same thing on their side. It's rhetoric. No one runs a TD play in that situation. No one. Everyone knows that's running up the score. The Vikings would be screaming to Almighty Joe Montana God if that was done to them, and everyone knows it. Everyone. That's why they are so whiny and defensive about it--they know it was classless.

C'mon, does anyone REALLY think that if the situation were completely reversed and the Cowpies had gotten that late score on a TD, that the Cowpie fans would be ANYTHING less than gloating mercilessly about it and telling everyone who had a problem with it to get over it?

33. The Cowboys have been in the situation where they could score.
They take the knee, or they run the ball to kill the clock.

Can you honestly say you think Phillips--one of the nicest guys in the NFL--would have done that? Or any other coach except Tice? You're wrong if you say yes, and you know it.

Cowpies' second-to-last drive, Romo and the offensive starters are still in the game with a 24-0 lead AND THROWING THE BALL. The Eagles had even PUNTED on their previous possession, indicating they had given up.

See post #35. Starters in, throwing the ball, up 24, late in the 4th Q. What made it worse for the Cowpunks was that the Eagles had given up by punting. They had surrendered.

20. I grew up hating the Cowboys, in fact when I was a kid our teacher made us
write letters to kids in a Dallas school because the Steelers were playing the Cowboys in the '79 Super Bowl and she and some other teachers thought it would be cute for kids in Pittsburgh and Dallas to exchange letters. I just remember how obnoxious the letters from those kids in Dallas were and how it just set the stage for the nastiest pen pal letters between the two schools. The teachers ended up having to put an end to it.

So I delighted in the game last night!

Since my own beloved Steelers are not in the playoffs due to their schizo performance this season, I am rooting for the New Orleans Saints! I was in New Orleans a few years ago, loved the place, people and atmosphere!
