On B-29 at March AFB in Calif.ready to head to battle when Truman dropped the bomb.

Had to go back to Hollywood on weekends to recover at Palladium.

Darn! I was big hero. I kept gals happy so they could do better work in defense plants.

Once you've seen how it works from both sides of the fence, it's a no-brainer to make an educated decision from military > progressive democrat. it's alot more than can be said about the chickenhawk misadministration...

also, I born on an Air Force base and was a GI brat for 15 years (dad a USAF meteorologist).

My English maternal grandfather was in the Royal military and was one of those poor schmucks trapped on the beach at Dunkirk. He was picked up by fisherman who rowed across the channel in a tiny boat. Granddad never talked too much about the war except to say I COULD DIVE UNDER A JEEP FASTER THAN ANYONE. :D

Navy, huh? Here is my favorite Jack Handey expressionism:

"Our dreams, our hopes that one day we will communicate with dolphins; our fears they will cuss like sailors."

Served as a military journalist. Was stationed aboard the USCENTCOM flag ship, USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19) for Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. I also did tours for the Commander in Chief, U.S. Pacific Fleet (1987-1990) and a very brief stint aboard USS Independence (CV-62) in 1992.

Right-wingers hate me because I'm a vet that opposes the war in Iraq. They don't consider me a "real" veteran.

For fun, read my hate mail.

68. Damn straight
We've been there and know what the hell we're talking about. We've served our country in peace time and during war, and the fucking right-wingers have the nerve -- the nerve -- to say that we're not patriotic, or that we're un-American, or even going so far as to say that we're not real veterans. There are times where we will agree with our Commander in Chief, and there will be times that we do not.

Argh, it just pisses me off sometimes, when the Ann Coulters of the world can insult the honor of a man like Max Cleland by minimizing his service to his country. Unlike *, who got himself a coveted spot in the Texas Air National Guard, despite not scoring high enough to get it; who was commissioned an officer right out of boot camp, without having to take any officer candidate training; and who was allowed to train on an aircraft that was being phased out of service in Vietnam.

I thank each and every one of you for your service, and I'm sure in some cases, your sacrifices.
