My aunt turns 96 tomorrow...
It's time for me to feel young again! We'll be going to the nursing home with a cake and balloons. (She usually doesn't know who we are, but she's always happy for the company)! She likes sparkly things so I bought her some costume jewelry. I'm sure she'll love it.

2. Celebrate...
You might also consider a singing birthday card with a song from her past,we had great success with one.
Glitter and sparkles is the way to go, have a wonderful party!

4. Hi zanne >>>zanana1. Does your aunt have an older relative ~ her age?
Edited on Wed Dec-30-09 02:05 PM by marzipanni
My mom will be 95 in a couple of weeks. We're pretty sure most of her relatives in her generation have died, except one cousin's husband.

I wanted to send you a PM, but can't, due to your new "new" status. Did you try asking the DU administrators if you could continue to use your former name? I put the link to your explanation from the recent archives if you don't feel like explaining that you are an "experienced DUer" all the time!

Have fun at your aunts party! :woohoo: 96!

8. I've tried to contact the admin. about this, but I keep getting...
"Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed". I gave them my correct email, though I have changed it since I last registered about four years ago. I'd love to get my identity back, but I'm having a heck of a time doing it.

Love your aunt while she's here and make every remaining day a party when you can! :hi:

Happy 96th to your aunt, zanana1! :hi:

6. You're a good egg, zanana
You better believe our elders appreciate the visits, even when they don't know who we are. My grandmother was always amazed and very happy when we showed up; she'd say wonderingly, "you're here for ME?"

Have a wonderful time with your aunt.

7. My dad will be 93 on Jan 1st. Think of all the history they have seen.
The first time he flew was in the jet airliner in the '80's...he was born when airplanes were canvas covered wood strips held together with wires.

He lives in an apartment in Texas.

10. I would love to talk to my aunt about that.....
But she has Alzheimer's. I hate that disease.

11. I just got back from my aunt's birthday party.
It was really nice and it made her happy. The whole staff got together, gave her a "birthday princess" crown and sang to her. She got a few gifts but her real gift comes tomorrow; we're taking her to the mall. Wish us luck!
