Two questions for cat people
1. -Does your cat let you pick them up?

2. -Does your cat come when it is called?

Mine do, but they both don't like to be picked up, one really doesn't and tries to claw me with it's raptor hind leg. The other one doesn't like it, but puts up with it. Both come when being called but the gray one will wait 5-10 minutes to let you know that she really isn't coming to your call. the white one comes immediately when called and she hangs with us when we are outside.

1. Depends on the cat, like most other things
1. -Does your cat let you pick them up?

Cat A: Yes, but doesn't like it
Cat B: No, hates it. I can pick her up, though, because she's learned that with Daddy, RESISTANCE IS USELESS
Cat C: Would live in your arms if you let him

2. -Does your cat come when it is called?

Cat A: No
Cat B: No
Cat C: Yes

2. Yes, and yes. And I taught them all to sit.
They learned to sit for treats, but now they'll do it just because I tell them to. Usually that means neck scratches, so I guess you could consider that a treat.

3. Response from a cat person
1. Yes. Brianna is a snuggler and doesn't mind at all. Pippy will sometimes fuss at first, but then settle down once she realizes that an ear scritch is involved.

2. If they feel like it. They both respond to their names, but being who they are, they won't come if there isn't some good reason.

5. Yes, and yes
Both of mine let me pick them up. They will both come when called, although not always. The older of the two is 15, and I don't think all of his deafness is selective.

6. Coming when they are called depends entirely on their mood. I can always pick mine up, can
even rub my face on their bellies. When they were young I could hold Pickles for all of 30 seconds before she wanted down. As she has gotten older (15 now) I can hold her for a few minutes now. Pretzel actually begs at times to be picked and draped over your shoulder. :D

7. Cat Answers:
1. Pixie and Jeoffry prefer not to be picked up. Milo, on the other hand, not only likes it, he sometimes demands it. He will hurl himself at my torso so I have to catch him and hold him and cuddle him while he purrs like a buzzsaw.

2. All three of them come when called. Actually, I can call any one of them and all of them will appear. Usually they are waiting for me at the door when I come home, but if not, all I have to do is yell "¡Hola, gatos!" and they come thumpity-thumping to the back door, all happy to see me and wanting food.

8. Coming when called? maybe...infrequent enough to possibly be a random occurance of them just...
happening to be wanting to go in that direction.
Picking up...yes...but there it starts a timer - about 20 or 30 seconds, even if there is purring.

9. Mine
Both let me pick them up but start squirming after a minute or two. I think Sophie kinda likes it. She will stay still longer than her sister.
Both come when called, sometimes. Both will respond to "Kitties, come!" as well. But occasionally neither will respond

10. I have a cat who hates to be picked up. I have to force myself not to pick her up when I walk
Edited on Thu Dec-17-09 09:04 PM by applegrove
by. My other two cats are more social. Both like to be picked up only if they are in the mood. They do like to cuddle though, especially on my bed. As for coming when called? Only at nighttime when they want to snuggle (or when there is food involved).

11. He loves to be held, and all I have to do is make eye contact and he comes running.
He's a big lug. :)
