I'm going to Hell for this: The neighbors got a divorce. I wish I were sad.

Our neighbor two doors down has been a thorn in my side since we moved here. To make a long story short, the wife is one of the more frustrating and annoying people on the planet, IMHO. Example: Her youngest son broke into the other neighbor's house to steal his kids' collection of baseball cards and other baseball items. Her reaction? "Oh, don't call the cops. We have visitors coming from Britain, and it will spoil their visit." Yeah. I could tell the Lounge hundreds of stories. She's one of those people who thinks her kids are perfect, and it's everyone else's problem.

We got a puppy six months ago. We don't leave him outside at night. He plays in his backyard during daylight hours. He isn't allowed to bark incessantly, because he's under our supervision at all times he's outside of his crate. Unfortunately, sometimes, puppies bark. We said nothing when they got a dog. After all, dogs bark. Evidently, though, NOBODY else's dog should be allowed to bark at any time. She went off on my husband about Moose three months ago, and we were so afraid of the consequences as a result that the poor dog's been under house arrest.

My husband (the most patient man on the planet,) noticed that he hadn't seen her car for awhile. He ran into her husband outside this morning. They've evidently split up. So: Do I express my condolences to the neighbor, or do I run off to Redhook Brewery and get a keg? Yeah, I'm going to Hell.

:woohoo:

2. Don't get a keg...get bottles.
Yes, it's the most expensive way to buy beer but glass is an inert container and every one was bottled at the peak-perfection of freshness and stays that way until you open it and pour it into a frosty glass. Keg beer on the other hand is heavily-aerated due to the pumping and starts to turn the second you first start pouring from the keg (unless you have a fancy system like they have in bars), the last 3-5 cups of beer to come from a keg are the worst beer you'll ever have...perhaps you (or I) would not care if you were speaking of swilly water like MGD or Bud Light, but why would you do that to a quality beer. It's the worst abomination since the pitcher of Guinness incident in college. (Hint: Never pour Guinness from a pitcher, only the first glass will have the traditional and necessary head, the rest will just taste like burning and battery acid.)

4. Thank you, Chan!
I'm glad you told me this. Seriously. (Or, maybe I should say, SERIES!!!11@!!) I will definitely get the bottles instead. Plus, I can't even imagine what my husband would say to arrive home to a scene that wouldn't be out of place on "Animal House".

We usually don't drink a lot of beer, so when I'm buying it, I get the good stuff.

Pitcher of Guinness. Yikes.

Again, thank you. :hi:

6. LOL! Well is the husband worth keeping around?
If he's a nice enough fellow, you could suggest your encouragement by invited him to more community gatherings. :7

7. He's okay
He's not my type, ;-) but I'm sure there are some ladies in the community that may find him attractive.

Plus, he seems to like the dog, so we're happy.

12. +1
Sometimes otherwise decent people get stuck in a lousy marriage (just ask my wife :) ). It would be a neighborly thing to make sure he's invited and included, especially if you're in a neighborhood with lots of couples. Sometimes the single folks are really feel left out.

13. Oh Believe me, I know that feeling
being the only single person in a sea of couples. You can very easily be the 5th wheel. No fun.

8. there was a neighbor in my old neighborhood that I felt the same way about
so i empathize.

this woman had kids close in age to mine and every day at the bus stop she would say shit that would turn even the best days sour.

i stopped going to the bus stop and would watch my kids from my porch.

her husband was a creepy bastard that would sometimes sneak up on me when I was working in my yard. my husband used to joke about how he had a crush on me. ick.

10. Our family values neighbors just split
A year and a half ago they tried to tell me how my marriage was being destroyed by the gays. Now with three kids, youngest less than a year old they are calling it quits. I wonder if it was the gays:crazy:

14. Oh, absolutely
It's the same thing here. The partnership benefits in Washington State were just upheld a few weeks ago via election results; she probably left because of it.

:woohoo:

It'll be nice to play with the dog outside, and not have to worry about whether or not it's going to be a problem for her... ;-)
