Anybody ever have a severe schizophrenic reaction to pot?
Just wondering if that's possible, or whether I should look for another cause for the s.o.'s seriously deranged behavior a few days ago. I took the stuff away, and it seemed to help.

Any ideas? Just looking for anecdotes, not medical advice. I already got that from an actual doctor.

1. Could be a severe allergic reaction
That's unlikely but possible However my suspicion would be that the pot was laced/contaminated with another drug/hallucinogen.

2. I thought of that, but
we got it from the legal dispensary. I'm not the one with the prescription, and I only smoke infrequently anyway, so I have not sampled this batch, and have no desire to do so after the week I've just spent in hell.

Since I'm not a member, I can't talk to the dispensary manager directly, but the s.o. expressed an interest in doing so last night after I confiscated the whole kit'n'kaboodle so I wouldn't have to stay up and stand guard all night again. :(

3. If so, I would question the integrity of the pot - it might be laced.
I quit the stuff about 20 years ago, but even then there were times when I questioned the weed. Taste is not always a valid test. There's a trend that started well before I took my first toke of lacing cheap pot with more profitable substances (PCP was popular back then). The purpose is to get the user interested in the other substance and make them a user. I'm assuming that trend has continued. The THC content has gotten progressively greater with time, but "schizophrenic reactions" are not normal. Wanting to sit on the couch for hours, stare at the wall and then eat an entire bag of cookies is normal.

4. See post #2
I also had to bar the s.o. from drinking caffeine, except for a small amount meant to avoid withdrawal headaches. :( The paranoia levels were getting epic.

I was dusted once in college, and even accounting for different reactions in different people, I really don't think that's it - but I could be wrong. :(

5. I have seen a schizophrenic reaction to pot
But I have not experienced it myself as I am not pre-disposed to schizophrenia.
Pot can trigger the behaviors.
It is possible..

6. Yes, it absolutely happens if one is predisposed to schizophrenia.
It happened to my goddaughter. Pot smoking triggered her psychotic breakdown a year ago and she now knows she must not smoke pot. Far be it from me to say anything negative about a DU god.

7. I freaked out the few times I smoked it
I thought I was losing my mind. Haven't smoked it in 25 years, as a result.

8. I freaked out once
had never heard of it happening to anyone else and still don't know exactly what caused it. Thought it was a 'panic attack' of some sort. Very scary.

That said, I knew a guy in high school who went absolutely psychotic after doing LSD for some period of time.
