Those wireless routers are a bigger scam than free credit report.com
Edited on Sun Dec-06-09 03:05 AM by amerikat
I went to the computer store and bought a wireless router. I wanted to have my laptop
connect to the internet. I'm thinking it should be pretty easy to get it running.
But no. I take it out of the box and push the "ON" button. Nothing happens no lights flash and my laptop still has no internet connectivity.

I open the instruction manual and it says install the software first. Ok now I have it figured out.
Wrong, I installed the software and my laptop still has no internets and no lights blink on the
new electrical contraption.
Reading a bit further in the instruction manual and following the setup guide on my desk top
I was shocked to find........I needed to plug the fucking thing into a wall outlet. Wires?
I thought it was wireless, WTF.
Not only did I have to plug it into an outlet on the wall with the big wire, I also had to plug it into
the back of the router with the small wire. WTF this thing is supposed to be wireless right?

It gets worse. Continuing on I find I need an Ethernet cable(more wire) to go from the modem
to the router. Back into to box to find the cat 5 wire( all my cats are wireless but this contraption
needs a wired cat)?

Distraught and discourage I struggle on to find I need yet another wire to go from the wireless router to the Ethernet port on the back of the desktop(this getting Ridiculous) not included
of course. From what I can tell radio shack has some kind of sensor that reads my frustration level as
soon as I leave my car and walk toward the store. Near as I can tell the sensor adjusts all
the prices of anyting selling for less than $19.99 to $29.99 or $34.99.

Great, now I have as many
cats as I have cat5 cables. If I ever get another cat I will just call it cat number 5.
Even dogs, bird, lizard or whaterer will be called cat5.1 or cat5.2.. This will really confuse
my veterinarian.

So I finally get the damn thing working.....light are flashing and I am happy. Then
my desktop wants a wep code?.......I think it means "Wire Exploitation Program"....just a evil
plot to add more wire to the world.

I am just bringing online a new desktop and it struck me how many wires are back there.

I wrote this in fun and I understand routers. Just needed to write something funny to share with DU

i hope you enjoy!

3. you want it?
Edited on Sun Dec-06-09 05:50 AM by backwoodsbob
I'll give it to you too.

I'll throw in free shipping if needed

You would have to know this cat.I would ALMOST feel guilty hoisting it on some poor helpless soul.

It torments my dogs.It hides and waits for them to walk by alone and kicks there asses. These aren't small dogs..they are shepperds. This cat can take a shepperd one on one without breaking a sweat.

This cat is the embodiment of all that is evil..it may be the antichrist..plus it's swipes at the dogs are almost tebow'esqu and i hate Tim Tebow

sort of vampirish.

This cat..all kidding aside..is the badass of cats.It has brought three living snakes into the house including a 3 foot black snake. It's brought an unhurt fully grown rabbit into the house, dragging it backwards as the rabbit kicked trying to get away, and yes we saved the rabbit...An unhurt adult squirrel....all kinds of stuff

9. this cat is serious hardcore
Edited on Sun Dec-06-09 06:15 AM by backwoodsbob
if he had hands he would carry a switchblade.

He has dove off our kitchen cabinets onto the backs of our dogs. He's unreal. He took on a bobcat in our front yard and held his own.The dogs once brought home a groundhog they had killed and the cat took it from them.

15. I had a hell of a time with my router...for real.
I ended up having to call customer support. I didn't think they were going to be able to get it going either. I ended having to be guided through some technical web site and putting in a lot of codes and other information. It took about an hour with their help. I dont't know how they expect anyone with less than a master's degree in computer science to figure that shit out.
