1. That's crazy
I think it's too cold for snow in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Hope it stays dry here, because I really hate it when the roads ice.

:scared:

2. I overslept today.
I think because it was darker outside due to the overcast. I got out of the shower, peeked through the blinds to see what was going on, and started to get dressed fast to take some pics! :D

I still need to get to my bank, so maybe I should go now before things start to freeze. I doubt that will happen until nightfall, anyway. I'll take my camera with me and get some more shots :)

5. I have the day off...
not going anywhere today. Got a flat tire last night, on the way home, at midnight. :-( Still need to get it repaired.

Hope you get some good pics... be sure to post some, please? :hi:

6. I got a few more on the Powershot, but the battery is now dead.
So, while it recharges, I'm about to go for a walk with the XTi and take more pics :D

Oh, there was practically no snow on the NW side of town, but it's still heavy here on the SW side, and accumulating :)

I didn't believe the weather people.

8. I don't watch the weather people normally anyway.
Here are a few more shots, though I noticed the accumulation is starting to melt. However, my study is getting dark from darker clouds out there, so maybe there's more snow to come...

(This accumulation has almost all melted just 30 minutes later.)

Get outta there quick! Don't take anything with you, just run!

Looks like white rain to me. :P

18. Feels like white rain, too.
Or "wet-delay" rain ;)

It is a big deal to us, though, because before Global Climate Change, we had snow about once every 15-20 years. It snowed last year around this time, too.

Now, seeing three feet of water in the streets? Happens all the time :P

Unfortunately it never snows where we live. I prefer cold to mild temps.

9. The flakes are ALWAYS bigger in Texas, go ahead, BRAG
about it.

We've not got enough to slip on and fall here in Milwaukee. Chiropractics nightmare here. No bad backs, no twisted ankles....NOTHING!

10. Why, are you a chiropractor?
:P

Pretty big flakes here... in Texas ;)
I'll take pics of the ice later tonight, but I'm staying away from the roads. I don't want a Nausiator, Escalate or dickup-truck sliding into me as I snap shots...

17. My experience was Houstonians were great on ice, not so good on snow
But it very very rarely snowed in College Station between 83-88.

If there is snow on the ground I would be careful of standing anywhere near a driveway or corner.

19. At the moment, the snow has stopped.
And the outside temperature is 35F. I don't know if we're supposed to get more snow or not, but if it drops, there will be ice. I haven't seen any accidents so far, even though too many are being overly cautious. Then again, too many are overly cautious when it sprinkles! It makes you wonder if they've never seen any kind of precipitation ;)

13. further south than Ensenada or Phoenix
I remember the great Houston Ice Storms of 89. No one moved for three days. Something about cold weather in jungle climates makes it even more unbearable.

14. I remember that freeze.
And I continue to question why builders refuse to insulate water pipes, both hot and cold. Not just for the hundred-year cold snaps like that one where were bursting pipes all over the place, but for efficiency the rest of the year.

I did have to actually get out and drive the freeways (I had a radio show to get to) but remember stopping at my credit union to get cash and their sprinkler system for the plants had burst, covering half the parking lot with big sheet of ice. I had never been in a car that was out of control on ice, so, with no other cars around, I got up to 10mph, threw on the parking brake and slid sideways until I hit dry pavement again :P

Now I know what it feels like and how you simply have no control. It's similar to hydroplaning, but that doesn't last near as long...

21. What's ridiculous about it is that I've heard of people taking their kids
out of school because of the snow. I don't know if that's because they can't fathom the idea of driving in the snow in the late afternoon or if it's to let the kids have some fun...

24. Spring ISD let kids out 3-hours after start time = 10:15am Spring High,
and 11:15am elementary. The kids would never get to play in snow if they didn't let them go home "during" a snowfall, they wouldn't get any work done in class with their noses pressed against the windows, and we want to get as many crazy drivers off the road as possible. I was the first in my office downstairs and outside to catch a snowflake on my tongue. Other Houston workers were having a snowball fight in the parking lot. We got off early, and the snowfall of large flakes on my way home was breathtaking, just beautiful. This was a special day. Love your pictures.

:)

23. Nope, never need them.
Or so rarely need them that it's not cost-effective to keep them in storage for those few times when it does snow.

I've never seen more than a few inches on the ground here and it never lasts long enough to justify the use of a snow-plow. Also, no means other than people with shovels in the back of a dump-truck to get sand on the bridges, either. I've seen them do that before :)

But, if you want 60+ inches of rain per year, we've got it! :D
