Top 5 "most overpaid stars in Hollywood"...Ferrell, McGregor, Thornton, Murphy & Ice Cube
Will Ferrell is Hollywood's most overpaid star: Forbes

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20091118/en_nm/us_ferrell;

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Funnyman Will Ferrell and British actor Ewan McGregor on Wednesday headed a Forbes.com list of Hollywood's most overpaid stars when looking at the financial returns of their movies.

Billy Bob Thornton, Tom Cruise and Jim Carrey also made the top 10 tally of actors who cost more to hire than they appear to be worth at box offices.

Ferrell took first place largely due to the flop of his summer 2009 movie "Land of the Lost", which Forbes said cost an estimated $100 million to make but earned just $65 million at box offices worldwide for movie studio Universal Pictures.

The movie followed a disappointing $43 million box office for Ferrell's 2008 outing "Semi-Pro", and $128 million for "Step Brothers".

4. I think he has reached his apex.
I used to think he was the cat's pajamas, so to speak, but something about him has gotten stale.

I don't know. Has he been in any good movies recently?

6. He's great in the Men who Stare at Goats.
He does much better sparkly eyes than George Clooney.

9. I haven't seen everything he's been in, but I just love him.
He's gorgeous, funny, talented, loves his family, cares about the planet and he doesn't spend all his time hanging out where he can be photographed by paparazzi.

7. Have you seen Long Way Round or Long Way Down
Both are great docs of motorcycle journeys with his buddy Charlie Boorman.

2. Ferrell is one actor who's really hit or miss.
When he hits he's funny as hell but when he misses - oh shit.

3. I always thought "Anchorman" fit dead-center between those two extremes.

There are parts of that movie that are probably "supposed to be" funny, but they seem like that traditionally bad last half hour of SNL, where NOTHING is funny.

But when he's trying to win over Christina Applegate and decides the best way to do it is to offer her "two free tickets to the gun show," it's so damned stupid I can't help but laughing.

Seems loke his whole career is built on that...throwing enough things at the wall in the knowledge that eventually something will stick.

14. If Will Ferrell and Eddie Murphy made a movie and called it a comedy
they would be sued for false advertising. Two of the most over rated talentless unfunny people in show business history.

The only thing funny about Eddie Murphy is that he ended up doing those shitty Disney movies. I imagine Ferrell is just one more film from starring in the Disney remake "That Fucking Cat."

16. Will Ferrell is usually funny as hell however...
I thought that Land of the Lost sucked, as well as Semi-Pro.

He was funny in Old School, Wedding Crashers and Elf. :)

17. Ferrell is just not funny, and he is annoying to watch - I sat through one
of his "big hit" movies last Christmas at someone else's house, and I could not wait for it to end. I think is was "Step Brothers" - It really sucked.

I thought "Bad Santa" with Billy Bob was very funny, but I can see where it might be offensive to large segments of the general public-especially the parts I thought were funny.

There are a lot of "stars" who are way overpaid, but Johnny Depp can't be in every movie, can he?

19. Ferrell's a hoot if he's in a skit with Christopher Walken craving more cowbell.
Otherwise he sucks.
