Outlook Express question.
It won't let me open attachments in my email that I know are safe because they are family pictures sent to me of my kids. It says "OE has removed access to the following unsafe attachments" It does this with whatever anyone sends me. Is there any way to override that?

1. Those are the default settings
You need to change the security settings.

3. Just be extra cautious now
Don't open attachments even from your children unless you've been told they were sending it to you.

They can be very tempting sometimes.

Mom, Heres the recipe I said I'd send. Click > Virus

etc.

rename the file extension. Example: instead of mailing a file called my.doc have them rename it to my.txt then send it.

Starting with outlook 2000 SR1 I don't believe you can turn off this security feature. So renaming is the only recourse. One other alternative is to have them compress it with winzip for instance. (Then it would have a zip extension).

edit: oops your talking about express, nevermind

6. It's a good thing.
Asking my family to rename files, or use winzip would be futile. Not that I can talk :)
