A question about buying music as a gift:
i have been buying CDs, but one of my kids suggested buying an Mp3 instead. How does this work?

My personal feeling is buy the CD, let them load it onto their machine, then if their machine dies, they can always reload it on the new machine.

1. or they can rip the CD and sell it

or if you give them a shrink wrapped CD, and they already have it or hate it, they can exchange it for something else, usually without a receipt even.

Plus, it's harder to gift-wrap an MP3... an iTunes gift card in an envelope isn't quite the same experience. Or an e-mail from Amazon saying "hey, you have $10 you can spend on MP3 files" is even less personal.
