Is it true you're not supposed to use duct tape with packages you put in mail?

PO employee told me that yesterday, said packing tape was supposed to be used. BUt she took the package anyway.

1. Took the package and they throw it into their dead package file.
Yes, no duck tape. Duck tape is for ducks.

2. might have to do with the adhesive and "grippy" surface?
Guessing that the "grippy" fabric surface and the adhesive that sometimes spreads past the edges might gum up the machinery, or keep packages from sliding down chutes or whatever.
