Alas, I have failed to heed the wisdom of Barney Frank, when he said,
Ma’am, trying to have a conversation with you would be like trying to argue with a dining room table. I have no interest in doing it.
And I have failed to heed
Colbert's brilliant example.
I have been having a discussion (not on this website) with someone who believes -- no, I'm not going to repeat it. I am opposed to torture so I will not attempt to replicate what this sadistic twit has done to logic. I will not detail the crimes against reason, they are too vile and extreme.
Let it just suffice to say that I have been tying to have an honest, reasoned discussion with someone not merely ignorant, but willfully and maliciously ignorant. Someone who clings to twisted, contradictory arguments even after the contradictions are exposed and the supporting "facts" are debunked.
I must resist the urge to look at the discussion again, to untwist the opposing argument, to reasonably craft a response. It is a waste of time. It is pointless. It has to stop. It is time to walk away.
Must. Stop. Arguing. With. A. Dining. Room. Table.
I'm pledging now to walk away before I am again reduced to inchoate* rage. You are my witness.
