Poll question: How do you rent movies?
Knowing that there are several was to rent - what's your preferred method. Me - I swear by On-Demand because I spent way too much money on late fees and I would probably never return movies if I used something like Netflix.

1. Other
sorry! I would've like to have seen a breakout between indie and Blockbuster like places. I support the local small biddness places and try to never be a patron of Block-corner-the-market-supress-the-choice-Buster.

2. Netflix
I absolutely demand my films be in letterbox, and I'm also addicted to the extras that come with DVDs, particularly commentary tracks, etc., that you just can't get on the pathetically few movie channels that show letterbox (TCM, IFC, and Flix). I can't believe HBO doesn't have at least one lbx channel.

4. Other: 80% waiting for regular cable, 20% rent
Also, it'll be a cold day in Hell before I patronize Blockbuster or other amoeba-like megachain. Indy stores are it.

5. if you have a habit of not returning your videos
Like I do, I'd suggest you just buy them.

I used to work at Blockbuster, I'd see people with late fees of $300 or more.

10. That's the beauty of On-Demand
Because you get the movie for 24 hours, you can rewind and fast foward AND you never have a late fee. The price is the same as renting a DVD (and the movie is always available).

Plus if I really like the movie I'll tape it on my VCR

6. and when I saw "local video store" I mean "locally owned"
Great selection, long rental periods, 50 cent/day late fees, "No war with Iraq" sign on the cash register. It's Box Office Video on Selby Ave. for those of you in St. Paul

7. I catch all the movies I want in the theater.
My son works for a local movie chain so I get in for free. I'm thoroughly spoiled.

9. Local indie store is my fav
Much better selection than Blockbuster, plus the people beind the counter are genuine movie buffs.

I can get anything: old silents, rare indie films, foreign films by country, adult, plus all the new releases.

Sections that only take up one section in Blockbuster, this place has whole walls devoted to. I have no desire to visit milktoast blockbuster.

12. Library
The Columbus Metro Library system has a great collection of movies (VHS and DVD) and those are free. They also have some things you can't get thru Netflix, and older movies that haven't been released on DVD yet.
