so, read this and tell me if it makes any sense.

artist statement

all of my work is about moments.
moments at the intersection of my family’s life with my own.
they are constructed of the
scrapnel of those collisions.
a favorite old shirt or sweater, flannel sheets worn thin, playing cards, paycheck stubs, baby clothes, flowers, weeds, twigs, anything that will burn or melt.
objects are dipped in casting slip, and formed partly by my control, partly following the forms of the objects.
some hold together through the fire, others fall apart.
what sticks, sticks. what falls off, falls off.
i accept this process in the same way that i accept that the structure on which i have built my life may also collapse under fire, may also change dramatically from the plans that i have made for it.
my latest work recontextualizes collapsed sculptures and other fragments, casting them in paper, reintroducing bits of the original objects, and giving them the enclosure of the rectacngle and the frame.

1. I like it

except for the second line, which sounds a little funny to me

I might change it to say :

moments when my family's life intersects (or maybe even collides) with my own

on edit: what I meant to say was maybe replace the word intersects with collides

2. I think it works well
I hate artist's statements with a passion though (having had to write many). I suppose on some level they do serve a purpose.

3. Makes perfect sense to me
But you probably mean "shrapnel," not "scrapnel."

4. I like it too
I agree with earlier posters about "collide" and "shrapnel" and would also suggest "constructed from".

Otherwise it's great, covers all bases. Love the "I accept this process ...etc" bit.

I salute you. I hate writing artist's statements. I can describe the how but get all twisted up over the why.
