grrr in the er at children's hospital. the mom in the next bed is a bitch

not a word I throw around lightly, except as a compliment. her kid is asthmatic, and they are admitting her. she has a brother in tow. she just smacked him for escaping the booth thingie. she is cranking at the kid for getting upset. then she calls dad, and is kissing his ass. long winded direction on where he could find her a tshirt. grrr.
I know nobody is on their best behavior in this situation. but I haven't heard a kind word yet.

the baby ( age 16) has crohns, and we are having a flair. a little bleeding, a few hours in hell. you know, the usual.

this started at age 8. frustrating that this was a reaction to the meds. not much good out there. but she has done better with no meds than with them.
we tease her that she has this problem because otherwise she would be perfectly perfect. there just had to be some flaw in there somewhere. she is perfect, anyway, tho. and a real trouper about all this bs.

5. I am so sorry the solution is also the problem. Meds can be a real pain that way. :( I am watching

my own kids to see if anything shows up in them since they are now the age I was when things started going downhill. Fingers crossed that they stay "perfect." :)

6. lots of crap runs in my family, but this stuff is new.

i never saw it coming. the bi-polar kid, yeah, i saw that one. but i had never heard of crohn's until a year or so before it started. there were some signs- she was at the bottom of the height and weight charts, and had pains in her belly and her legs for quite a while. a good friend had a kid that had such a bad case of it that she not only stopped growing, she started wasting away. and nobody caught it, even tho her dad has it.
it is so frustrating. i have had my sad go rounds with the medical industrial complex. when your life depends on these clowns, it is tough. i have had my miracles, too, but damn.

7. Yeah. I came within a hair's breadth of losing my entire colon at age 11. If it weren't for the

prednisone I surely would have lost it. However, odds are that the med also had something to do with making my bipolar worse. (A different illness that only got diagnosed when I was 35.)

I understand the leg pains. I can tell the difference between the flu and a flare-up based on whether or not there are excruciating pains in my feet. I have been lucky, though. I have had two kids and with each one's birth the colitis has improved. (With the exception of the first few months, when I never slept. That's just lovely for both the colitis and the bipolar.) Although I still have something similar to IBS, I haven't had a true bloody flare-up in years. (Phew!)

I hope your daughter's condition improves over the years too!
