'Ponyo' was absolutely wonderful. I cannot recommend it enough. Refreshing in a hot summer.

'Ponyo', the new movie by Hayao Miyazaki, is an absolute pleasure to experience. It is light, fun, and childlike; the music, setting, colors, and characters all converge into an innocent and simple universe. The innocence and simplicity do not result in a lack of interesting conflict or plot, but allows the movie to exist in a small and dynamic dimension that is a pleasure for the old and young. As to be expected, Miyazaki's creative team creates an amazing mythology that is both an effective story-telling vehicle as well as a dimension that goes beyond the film in all directions. I highly recommend this film for the little ones; if you have some elderly loved ones, bring them along too.

1. Just went and saw it tonight with my daughter :)
I enjoyed it, as I have all of Miyazaki's movies, and the time absolutely flew by! I can't wait 'til my daughter's seen it enough times to watch it through without fear or questions, though! :)

3. How much did you laugh?
My favorite parts were the funny ones. :)

4. I was grinning from the opening sequence to the ending song; I laughed out loud many times.
Hearing people laugh was part of the joy. I barely needed my sense of 'suspended disbelief'; it was like a rollercoaster for the eyes.

I loveloveloved the old ladies. I loved how the very old and young move slowly and exist, while the "adults" are mostly frantic, distant, or authoritarian. Amazing film. Miyazaki has enhanced my life experiences with his imagination and execution.
