3. Garden Party - MSG - Fall '79
Edited on Wed Mar-17-04 10:58 AM by CaptainClark23
I swear MSG literally took flight from midtown, headed for parts parts unknown. And I was clean as a damned whistle at the time.

(probably the only time I can make such a claim)

4. Sorta -
I'm not like HARDCORE or anything, so hopefully a better Deadhead than I will show up in your thread. :)

My doggie has a GD dog collar and matching leash.

I have a carved wooden JG angel hanging in my house - he's nekkid, wearing sunglasses, and holding a gi-tar.

I've got some awesome Dead books - including a Deadhead cookbook that has favorite recipes from Deadheads at shows.

Of course, I have a bunch of the obligatory GD tie-dyes.

There are a lot of people here on DU that hate the Dead - I'm sure you'll get some of them replying in this thread. I, however, LOVE them. It was a sad day, when Jerry died.

5. Got tapes to trade, if you want a list, PM me.....
Got a bout 200+ hrs of Dead on tape, mostly early seventies stuff. Looking for shows from spring 82 and all of 76, specifically (my favorite years), but also 93 (I want the David Murray show REAL BAD) Looking for boards or auds (not a big stickler for sound quality, the music is what gets me) Been burning all my shows onto CD lately......

Also, Looking to trade Zappa and Guided by Voices bootlegs if you know anybody with the good stuff....

10. How techno-savvy are you
have you ever heard of bit torrent? Firstly, are you dialup or highspeed cable/dsl?

There are several Dead projects on bit torrent. 73,74,76 & 77 come to mind...

14. Both techno-dumb and poor.
SLOWWW dial-up, and can't afford anything better. Strictly on the luddite tip over at the Koolzip hacienda.

I'd rather trade via snail mail....nothing beats the "human factor" in matters of illicit sound recordings. You got any tapes for trade? I'm itching for more trading partners.

17. Actually...
there's nothing illegal about it. The Dead were pioneers in the taping friendly bands of this genre. I would be more than happy to adopt another trading partner. Shoot me an email: [email protected] and we'll arrange for a trade of lists.

8. Love the Dead, hate the Deadheads...
O.K. I don't hate them. But I grew up a punk rocker in a prep school full of rich kid republican deadheads. It made me unfairly hate the music and the phenomenom as a whole.

When I got to college and developed a few friendships with actual deadheads and dead fans I gained an incredible appreciation for the music, the band, what they accomplished and how they did what they did.

Saw a few shows from '88 to about '93 and had a couple hundred tapes at one time.

19. Deadhead here.
Edited on Wed Mar-17-04 11:10 AM by Rainbowreflect
Only made it to 13 shows in my lifetime, the Dead didn't come to Nebraska. Saw them in Red Rocks, Alpine Valley, Sandstone & Deer Creek mid '80s to mid 90's.
On edit: I worked my way through college making & saleing tie-dyes & beaded jewerlry.

20. Sniffle... I Miss Jerry...
Best show was an outdoor show at Lewiston Maine fall of 80.

I toured around a bit that year.

By the 90's I stopped going cause somehow the crowds just weren't the same and I figured it was better to let the younguns get in.

23. First Show: Englistown NJ 9/77
Made it to probably about 75 or so shows '77-'90. I had lost interest a few years before Jerry died, and had even stopped listening because my guitar playing was just too Jerry-heavy.

Even with shorter hair, average clothes and some wrinkles people can still tell somehow that I am/was a Deadhead. Personally, I try to avoid labels and don't necessarily consider myself one.

Some of my Favorite Shows:

Englishtown '77
Norfolk '82
Hartford '84
Greek Theater '84
Saratoga!
Spectrum, Philly (too many to list!)
