Michelle Obama's shorts: What is all the fuss about?
The pictures I saw didn't make them seem too short.

They didn't look like this:

Michelle Obama may be unwittingly responsible for yet another first in first lady fashion history.

So why does it already seem so ... overdone?

She has reportedly sparked criticism for wearing "short" shorts on a trip to the Grand Canyon this past weekend, as covered everywhere from the "Today" show to The Kansas City Star.

Maybe this debate is a fitting sequel to questions about her right to bare arms.

1. Saw a strange thing in Barnes & Noble the other day...
There was a book about "The Fashion of First Lady Michelle Obama" or something like that, in the remainder section.

Now, she's not been first lady that long to gather examples, yet, someone's already done a book about it, AND it's already been deemed a failure to the point that it's on clearance.

Or maybe it's a "straight to clearance" publication, as B&N sometimes seems to produce.

Just thought it was a little, uh, early for all that stuff to be happening.

Maybe the shorts episode will prompt a sequel.

2. Because they're idiots.
I saw the shorts she was wearing. They weren't 'short shorts'. The First Lady has long legs. 'Normal' shorts will appear shorter on her than they would on a woman with shorter legs.

I have the same issue. It's REALLY noticeable with jeans. Manufacturers make 'standard lengths', and God help you if your legs do NOT fit into their 'standard' category. I have a 36" inseam. Womens jeans (size 12 or smaller)- once again, 'standard' - come in three lengths: short/petite, average, long/tall. Well, they consider a 'long/tall' inseam to be 32". If I wanted capris, I'd buy capris. If I want jeans that go down to my ankles, I have to pay $145.00 a pair, or get mens jeans. Another problem with 'outsourcing'. I suppose if your models are based on the typical Asian, a 32" inseam IS long.

Well, jean rant off, Mrs. Obama's shorts were NOT too short. They were normal shorts on a woman with long legs. I guess all her critics either don't buy off the rack or have the perfect body shape for 'standard' clothing.
