27. It has a lot to offer at a very managable size.
I loved the medieval cobblestone streets with all the bars and bodegas.

The Alcazar is a must see for any castle enthusiast.

The cathedral is immense and awe inspiring.

There is a giant Roman aqueduct in amazing condition.

Lots of art galleries.

The people are very friendly.

So much history in one place.

All of this surrounded by some breathtaking countryside.

If I ever move outside the USA it will be there.

30. Seattle
I always feel like I'm 21 again when I go there. I listen to the end and kexp on streaming, my sucky college town doesn't even have an alternative radio station unless the antenna is just right to get Jacksonville reception. I interviewed for a job in Eugene two years ago, and almost went for an interview in Vancouver WA. I'm happy to be in Florida for a number of reasons, but living in the NW is one of the things that's still on my list of things I'd like to do someday, although it will probably never happen.

Disclaimer: I've lived in a few cool cities in my life, NYC, Chicago, Miami, Houston, San Antonio, DC, and not so cool (sorry those of you from Baltimore and Jacksonville), so I didn't consider them.

But I guess we all have our own opinions.

69. I think some of it was my experiences in those places.
In Jacksonville, in the late 70s, I was the only kid in my class born north of the Mason-Dixon line. I was a complete outsider. In Baltimore, I just never liked the class divisions, and I lived downtown, which made life difficult, and my grad-school years were rough anyway, personally and professionally.

I don't like the pretentious and showy (I hate L.A., Dallas, and Atlanta), but the cities I like the best have a vibrant alternative subculture, good parks and museums, and they tend to be populated by somewhat nerdy types. That's Seattle. That's why I live in a college town, although I currently, for the first time in 13 years, don't have an academic affiliation and appointment.

65. I like San Francisco, too, don't know Vancouver
I also like Boston and Washington, DC in North America.

But I have been working overseas for 30 years now, am married to a European, and we live in a very central part of the
continent, so it isn't very long a flight to anywhere. As a teenager, I lived in Barcelona, Spain for a while, went back
several times since. It's more crowded now, but still an amazing place. Prague is mesmerizing, and Scandiavia is truly
a string of cities of beauty, from Bergen to Oslo to Stockholm to København. My own adopted town of Düsseldorf has its
charm as well, but I'm just too familiar with the place to gush about it. Same goes for the cities I enjoy but am in
several times a month for work, such as München ("Munich"), Paris and Brussels.

Glasgow - I was born there, left at the age of 10 (48 years ago), been back several times. Not the prettiest city, but the best people. It helps (perhaps) that I still speak the language. It still feels like home.

Barcelona - nothing more can be said.

Munich - ditto.

Rome - ditto times 2.

Bristol (Eng)- don't know why...harbour, steep hills, great people...

Rotterdam - less traditional than Amsterdam (the Germans bombed the shit out of it and much of it had to be rebuilt). I lived south of RDAM for 17 years and love the place...it's the world's biggest port (depending on your definition), brilliant people and great memories such as jumping up in down in the Kuip supporting Feyenoord, feeling the whole stand move with every jump.

Adelaide - grew up there. All the advantages of a big city with all the advantages of a small town.

Edited to add London. How could I forget London???????? And Chipping Sodbury. Although I've never been to Chipping Sodbury...I just love the name.

If you mean only as to large cities, I'll have to say Baltimore, even if I didn't view it as a tourist but more from going there every week to visit my grandparents. It's not perfect, it's not flashy, it doesn't try to be New York, but it sure has a lot of character.

I like Jacksonville, too. Honestly. It's an underrated city.
