Photo Thread: In Costumes!
Me, JennaLaw, and FanGrrl at the Renaissance Faire last Saturday.

We had a wonderful time for most of the day. :)

But both FanGrrl and I were in bad shape by the end of the day. She was sick and couldn't eat, and I was so badly hurt from getting pushing in a wheelchair over gravel paths that I spent the past 2 days in bed recovering. :(

Ah well, it's best to remember the good times, so that's what we took pictures of.

2. My dear ThomCat!
Oh, that is a wonderful pic, sweetie!

Alas, I have no pictures of me in any sort of costume...

It does me so much good to see you getting out...even if you were in bed for the last two days.

You had a very good reason for all that rest.

Thank you for posting this!

I'll have to take your word for that being a bad Cleopatra costume. It looks fine in the photo. :)

I'd say all that matters in that last picture is that he managed to get your heart. :P

11. King Richards Faire & PA Renfaire
Edited on Tue Aug-11-09 11:35 AM by _dynamicdems
King Richards Faire in S. Carver, MA with my daughter. My favorite fall fair. I'll be going again this fall with my daughter and my 4 yr old granddaughter.

PA Renfaire making a new "friend"....

(Yikes, this one is rather large...photobucket don't let you adjust the size apparently. Oh well, don't feel like editing & uploading.)

Edit: figured it out.

29. I've never been to either of those ren faires.
I know the one is NJ has a reputation of not being worth the effort. How are the ones in PA and MA?

You and your daughter are beautiful! :)

48. PA was okay, I just went once because a group of friends were meeting there.
Edited on Wed Aug-12-09 09:10 AM by _dynamicdems
the one in PA was larger than King Richards, but it wasn't really any better.

King Richards is nice. It's not overly huge, but it's homey, if that makes sense. I've gone there for so many years and there have been changes (they tried a mechanical dragon at one point) but mostly it stays the same, which is what I like about it. Also the honey meade is memorable. And their jousts are the funniest. I've many fond memories of cheering for the bad guys (cheat to win!). But they always get carried off in the body cart. So predictable! :)

I've never been to the one in NJ, but have heard mixed reviews. More often they agree with what you heard: not worth the effort.

(Thank you for the compliment. It's fun to dress up and be "Ladies" every now and then.)

You pull off a really good Frodo. :)

Were you barefoot? While that would add some authenticity to the costume, I can't imagine that is practical. On the other hand, where would you find slippers that look like big hairy hobbit feet? :P

I didn't swear much more than I usually do. It was a fun costume to put together and pretty much everybody at the party knew who I was too. One person did ask "Are you supposed to be Jesus?"
Thanks for the compliment!
