Okay, so who IS this Harry Pooter, and why is he so popular with moviegoers?

3. The first film isn't too bad

However, if my husband and I have kids, we might read them Harry Potter when they're like nine or ten. I don't really understand why the books were geared towards children in the first place.

:D Kids have gobbled them up as if they were breathing fresh air for the first time.

And have made JK Rowling an almost billionaire.

Great coming of age story set against a magical world, with a good bit of satire about the British boarding school experience thrown in for good measure. You can also see certain parallels with the worst aspects of the Bush years.

Fun stories. She ain't no John Donne, but she doesn't have to be. She does have a flair for story and good characters, though.
