Our Chief is retiring as of today
This is what our card to him says

So it's retirement time Chief,

Don't worry, no one is going to get sentimental on you...that would be too embarrassing for you and cause too much chaos on a day when the easy life should begin. But we will take this moment to say that as Chief and fellow firefighter, your leadership and presence around Fire Prevention will certainly be missed. If we did not say it enough or maybe had not said it at all, we want you to know how much we appreciated your years on the job with us and all you've done to support us and keep our team working well together.

We leave you with the following quote...

A boss creates fear, a leader confidence. A boss fixes blame, a leader corrects mistakes. A boss knows all, a leader asks questions. A boss makes work drudgery, a leader makes it interesting. A boss is interested in himself or herself, a leader is interested in the group.
---quote by Russell H. Ewing

We celebrate with you today your Retirement, deserving of a true LEADER!
May your retirement be all you hope for and more and may you always have fond memories of your time at Fire Prevention and not forget those of us who enjoyed working with you in the line of duty where trust and loyalty is not a choice, but a job description.

1. Sounds like you all admired and respected him greatly. It was very thoughtful of you all to make
sure he knows that. :hi:

2. thanks
It will be strange around here without him. The man knew his job and lead by example. He was tough but fair. At the end of the day I'm happy for him, he's earned it.
