1. When I worked for a hospital

I was a member of the safety committee. We had this dumb ass, but ambitious, VP that ran the committee. Well we had just has a lay off a couple months back (where we lost 20 percent of the staff). Now this guy Paul is bragging about how employee accidents were down 20%. I just started laughing and pointed out the cause of the reduction he was crowing about. I have to say he didn't find his blunder nearly as amusing as I did.

The dumb ass went on to become a hospital CEO (like Bush a lack of moral constraints aided his career). Then after 5 - 10 years his career crashed and burned in an orgy of drugs, alcohol and extra maritial affairs.

2. Early early in my career I once blurted out that someone was leaving the company...

...and they hadn't told anyone yet. Yikes.

I learned a lot about what 'in confidence' meant after that and since then I don't let on that I know anything. I've been involved in mergers, force reductions, labor stuff, etc and I've earned a sterling reputation for discretion and keep-your-mouth-shuttedness.

3. "Whew, I knew I shouldn't have had that third burrito" - in an elevator

Well, that's what I SHOULD have blurted out.

4. on a daily basis...

5. A lot, but I am getting better as I get older at knowing when to nt.

6. I embarrassed my little sister really, really bad once.

When she was younger she refused to take a bath, so when she finally (days later) decided to take one, my mom went in the kitchen - got a spatula and handed it to her saying "you might try using this to pry your underwear off".

I laughed until I cried at the time, but she didn't think it was very funny when I reminded her of it in front of a boyfriend. Oops!

7. Yes. At work. I've learned since then to be VERY careful of waht you

say, because you don't always know who's friends with who.

9. Reminds me of an old joke

A guy mentions a Freudian Slip to a friend, who says he doesn't know what that means. So he explains it's where you say something wrong, but it's obvious that you were thinking about something else. He says, "Let me give you an example. I was going to buy airline tickets, and when I got to the counter the attendant was gorgeous, very well-developed and had the two top buttons of her blouse unbuttoned. I blurted out, 'I'd like two pickets to Tittsburg.'"
"Oh, I get it," said his friend. "Like the other morning I intended to say to my wife, 'Honey, will you pass the butter.' but instead I shouted out "You fucking bitch, you've ruined my life.'"
