"Daniel" and the Lions

A little story for Thursday evening: on my way home from the beach on a shiny electric tricycle and a gorgeous day I pass through the Sprinter train station that today was occupied by a family with two small boys on very small bicycles. I was interrupted on my path by one of them to which I offered, "hey, what's up?". He then proceeded to ask me a very important question: "Are you a Christian?" Just to be sure I had heard that right I asked him to please repeat it--giving me precious time to think of an answer. Amazed at the topic but fairly composed I replied, "most people are. But, many of my friends are Jewish." A slight fib, the latter, but I thought it important for answering such a query, since the most influential ones for me happen to have been, anyway.



Then, with a screech like Palin's came a gratuitous warning from the person whom I presumed was his mother, "Daniel, you are not supposed to talk to strangers!"

Wow, really? Even when the entire family is sitting not 10 feet away, and the interlocutor is as unique and ancient as me? Oh well. I still think Daniel got the point from both of us. Let's hope so :)
