A friend told me about marketing companies across the country who hire "secret shoppers." For example, a marketing company will hire you to go to a store such as a grocery store or bank to shop there. You pretend to be a normal customer, but you are actually evaluating the store, how was the service, how clean it was, how friendly the employees were, etc.

After you are done shopping, you fill out a little report and get paid a fee as an independent contractor. You are reinbursed for anything you are required to buy as a result of the job and you get an extra fee on top of that which can range from $10-$30. Not bad for a couple hours work.

Also, many of these places ask you to go to restaurants and they will reinburse your meal + give you a fee. Not a bad way to spend an evening "working" to make a quick buck for those in between jobs.

Here's the website where you can search for mystery shopping jobs in your area and apply online.

From what I have been told, they aren't picky at all about hiring anyone, as long as you show them you have good writing skills and can write up a report.
