Is Pixar going to have to make the Michael Jackson biopic?
I think so. If they did it live, they'd have to choose an actor who's...

* tall and too thin
* rather eccentric
* more feminine in his features than masculine
* with a high-pitched voice, and
* in love with roles requiring heavy makeup

The only actor I can think of at this juncture that fills all the requirements is Johnny Depp. Who else would they get? Ron Perlman's the size of a city bus. Tyler Perry's known for drag. Eddie Murphy's about the right shape, but Eddie's a comic actor and this isn't a comic role. But if you cast Johnny Depp as Michael Jackson there'd be riots in the streets. "You sayin' a black man can't play a black man?" Well, it'd be rough in this case.

I think the most compelling reason to do the Michael Jackson story as computer animation is MJ's love of plastic surgery. It's the nose, folks; you can't do a convincing Michael Jackson unless you can at least come close to his nose. It'd be very hard to do it on an actor--especially one with a natural African-American nose--but easy on a computer.

Pixar does very convincing animation, and I think it's the only way to do this story in a convincing fashion.

1. Look what CGI did to Brad Pitt's face in "Button".
They were able to make him look 20 yrs younger towards the end of the pic. The MJ biopic would have to star someone great like Will Smith and let CGI do it's magic.

6. The movie industry RUNS on ludicrous, man...
They made a Seinfeld movie, a Friends movie, a Sex in the City movie, Waterworld...of course they're going to make a Michael Jackson movie. And it'll make a brazillion dollars.

Actually, they'll probably make two Michael Jackson movies:

MJ 1 will be the real-life version of Peter Pan--the child singing star who wasn't allowed to grow up.

MJ 2 will show him as a raving pederast. (This one will make three times what the other one did.)

3. Why not the Artist Formerly Known as Prince?

He would fit the requirements in your list.

4. I thought Prince was a shortie
Speaking of casting, more than one Charlie Chaplin fan thought Prince would have been a better choice for The Little Tramp than Robert Downey Jr. Just sayin'...

5. Height is probably the easiest issue to deal with in filmmaking
IIRC, Alan Ladd was barely four feet tall.

7. No, because he's Prince
Prince could do it, and he might even be willing to...but Prince and Michael Jackson were both singing stars of the 1980s, so I think people wouldn't go to the movies to hear Prince sing Michael Jackson songs. (They WOULD go to hear him sing Prince songs.)
