Who do you think made this strong statement when the Defense of Marriage Act (which says gay marriages from one state will not be recognized by other states or the federal government) was being passed last year:
“Marriage recognizes the ideal of a father and mother living together to raise their children,” xxxxxx said. “Marriage is the cornerstone on which our society was founded. For those who say that the Constitution is so sacred that we cannot or should not adopt the Federal Marriage Amendment, I would simply point out that marriage, and the sanctity of that institution, predates the American Constitution and the founding of our nation. Marriage, as a social institution, predates every other institution on which ordered society in America has relied.”
Of course, it is recently disgraced Nevada Senator Ensign, who just stepped down as the #4 GOP leader in the Senate after confessing he had had an affair with a married woman on his staff. And forget the adultery and hypocrisy, what about the sexual harassment side of it and the fact that, when he wanted to break off the affair, he gave his former girlfriend a nice taxpayer severance package.
